How can i tune my guitar to drop D with my korg CA-30 tuner ?

To put it a half step down, each note should be the same as Standard tuning when you press on the first fret. That means, if you barred across the first fret when you are a half step down, you'd be in Standard tuning.
So, press on the first fret of the low E, then lower it to until you are in standard tuning. Do that for all strings. Then pluck the Eb and Db at the same time. Lower the Eb knob until it is the same note as Db... You should be able to hear it, hopefully.
It sounds confusing... but it's really not. By the way, if you don't already know, Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb, is the same as the tuning you listed..x

you don't really need a tuner. but if you want to use it, just match the 2nd fret of your low e string with the note e. so just tune it down and hold the second fret until the second fret is an e.

or you can de-tune the low e string, then tune it up while picking both the low e and d string, and then match the two.

or you know how you usually match the 5 fret with the next string? just match the 7th fret of the e string with the a string.

you need a tuner for that?

heres an easyer way play both your 4th string and your 6th string at the same time while tuneing the 6th string down until you hear PERFECT pitch:this means that the notes both sound the same.

I have a Korg Chromatic Tuner CA-30. Will it work to tune my guitar?

Sure...
This compact chromatic tuner supports a broad range of C1 (32.70 Hz)--C8 (4186.01 Hz), allowing speedy and high-precision tuning of wind, string, keyboard, and other instruments. This tuner is ideal for tuning even low-register notes containing numerous overtones that are often difficult to tune. A high-sensitivity mic is built-in, allowing easy and accurate tuning of acoustic instruments such as ukuleles.

It should, but be sure you go over the user directions.

KORG chromatic tuner ca-30?

Whoever knows anything about this type of tuner, what are Hz, and how do I use it for tuning an acoustic and electric?

Hertz (Hz) is a measurement of frequency. If you tap your finger twice in one second, you can say your finger has a frequency of 2 Hz (2* in one second).
This type of reading relates to a note's pitch: 440 Hz is A below middle C, or concert pitch.
Double the hertz, double the frequency;
Double the frequency; increase the octave by 1.
Thus 880 Hz is A above mid C
220 Hz is A two octaves below mid C.
Otherwise Music Resource answered the rest of the question...

how many Hz does my korg chromatic tuner ca-30 have to be on to tune my acustic guitar?

440

how do I tune my eletrice guitar with the korg chromatic tuner ca-30?

All you have to do is plug in the axe to the tuner and make sure you have power to the tuner. Next try your second string from the top. It should be the same tone as your dialtone on the phone. The tuner should tell you all you need to know about your sharps and flats. If all else fails, read the instruction manual. And start playing already!

so.... i got this friend who bought a korg ca-30 guitar tuner chromatic.... how do i use it n all this mf noiz?

on/off button
calib up n down
sound-note select
got a mic but i connected my guitar with the plug (also what is that called?)

hey kobe1 well as to tuning a guitar plug it in as you have. pluck a string start with the sith [thickest] e note. do not fret it
do so open as it is called . you want the needle to stay in the middle of the lcd screen so to speak if the little arrow lights light up usually red in color and point on direction or the other turn the tunning peg that way .say up or lower in pitch! you want the green one to light up and stay lit. do this with all the rest of the strings respectivly. e sixth, a fith. d fourth,g third ,b second, high e first. i should have said this first though! chromatics [tuners], can be set to different reference tones example is that the A note [open a ,fifth string ] in todays standard of concert pitch is 440 hz. this setting can be changed either higher,or lower in pitch,on that tuner [calibration button]. so then you can change the tuning of your instrument as you like! best though is to learn in that 440 range as todays concert pitch.
the reference tone that the tuner can make ,[ i am sure you have hit the button ] is used to tune most acoustic instruments. kinda self explanitory as to which tone to have it sound. again E,A,D,G,B,high E. [thickest to thinest string]. there is a lot more about that tuner but hope this helps a little.
when tuning acoustics [guitars] one thing that is very helpful is when you are doing so and getting close to pitch you desire, but cannot seem to get it use a quick downward turn on the tuning peg and then bring it back up and you will be able to hear the instrument coming in tune! you want that wobbly sound between the reference tone and your instrument to go away so to speak [the faster the wobbly sound the more you may want to tune up and or lower in pitch! to sound out the notes you are using as refereneces the better off you will be also. [you can tell if the instruments present tone is high or low in comparison to the referenced pitch] [tone] MAKES IT A LOT EASIER.
wow did not want to confuse you! sorry! HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND THIS! LATER!

Korg CA-30 chromatic tuner malfunction?

I've not used it for some months, replaced the batteries (the old ones weren't leaking), and when I switched on, the "needle" flickers randomly from sharp to flat with no input. I've tried a couple of changes of batteries. Is there a simple solution? .. a way of testing the machine? Should I just chuck it and get another?

Check out their support page first! http://www.korg.com/service/support.asp?A_PROD_NO=CA30 Maybe in the manual, or through support you would be able to fix this.

How Do I Use My KORG Chromatic Guitar Tuner?

I understand how to tune a guitar just fine.. its just how to use this specific tuner thats confusing me. I dont understand what the "calib" should be set on and stuff? can someone go into detail how this tuner works?

specific model: KORG Chromatic Tuner CA-30

The manual is here:
http://www.korg.com/downloads/pdf/CA30_EFG3.pdf
and there's an article about Korg tuners here:
http://www.korg.com/service/downloadinfo.asp?DID=1326

It looks like you have to get the guitar close to in-tune before using this. What happens is, you play a note, and the tuner figures out the closest correct note to that, and tells you if it's sharp or flat. If you're more than a few notes off, it may get the wrong note and you'll have to tune the string and try again, but this type of tuner is best for non-standard tunings where a guitar-only job wouldn't work. As for the calib, it's set to default to A (440 Hz), but you can change that if you want to. Turning the tuner off and back on makes the calibration go back to A again. I suppose if you needed to play accompaniment to some other instrument that can't be tuned properly, like a church organ or something, you can use the CALIB to get the tuner's A to match the instrument's A, and then you tune your guitar to that.

(If a church organ gets its input air from outside, it's pretty funny - in winter, a church organ will start a song in tune and then go out of tune as its air gets colder and the pipes cool)

I'm trying to tune a guitar w/ chromatic tuner. what is the right callibration? it's a korg CA-30?

i like to tune mine at a half step flat. that would be -50 cent on all strings on the tuner.i like to set all strings to 0 zero first then tune down to -50 percent .

i have one just like it and it is in percent on the marks -50 should be 1/2 step.

On a Korg guitar tuner, what Hz is the normal key of E?

I can't seem to figure out where it tells me.. I've just been having it at 430 forever, dunno what key it is, or what any other key is. It's a Korg chromatic tuner CA-30 if that helps.

The brand/model of tuner doesn't really matter.

If you're tuning a guitar, you're not tuning keys (heh!) you're tuning strings (individual notes - the only way to go!)

Each of the strings from top to bottom (standard tunings) correspond to the following frequencies. The 430Hz that you mention doesn't correspond to anything (not in this universe anyway).

E 82.41
A 110
D 146.83
G 196
B 246.94

(OTCBB:SOAN), which is endorsed by William Shatner as "a ray of hope amidst all the gloom," and by Ed Asner as "the best place to make a difference," announced today that it has acquired the worldwide rights to all fields of use for revolutionary audio enhancement technology known as MAX SOUND(TM). So Act intends to sell MAX SOUND(TM) globally to consumers as a web based audio, including mp3 conversion service through So Act's Network, and to license MAX SOUND(TM) to industry leaders in music, film, games, satellite and cable television and the Web. MAX SOUND(TM) will also be embedded in consumer electronics such as mp3 players, DVD players, DVD recorders, audio/video receivers, television sets, set-top boxes, video game consoles, personal audio and video players, personal computers and in-car entertainment systems. Additional markets already in development are Motion Picture Soundtracks, professional recording and post-production to enhance modern music and to restore legacy recordings, and for use by broadcasters to enable the transmission of the highest fidelity audio using the least amount of bandwidth. "MAX SOUND(TM) is an industry game changer that will gain swift and global acceptance by every major player that has any device or technology that records, processes, or plays back sound," said Greg Halpern, So Act Network's CEO. "We project that every maker of an electronic device, operating system or web technology will need MAX SOUND(TM) within one to two years to gain or maintain a competitive advantage. This includes Apple iPod, iTunes, iPad, iPhone, Microsoft, MySpace, Google Android Smartphone and YouTube. There is NO competition for MAX SOUND(TM) and that's that." "MAX SOUND(TM) is a significant breakthrough in sound processing based on the physics of acoustics rather than the age-old traditional methods which use electronics and compression," said Lloyd Trammell, MAX SOUND(TM) Inventor and Chief Technical Officer. "For the listener, MAX SOUND(TM) processed audio provides unparalleled fidelity, improved harmonics, significantly enhanced dynamic range, clearer instrument and voice separation and lifelike natural realism." About Lloyd Trammell, MAX SOUND(TM) Inventor. Over the past 15 years, several trends have greatly impacted the entertainment industry that drives demand for MAX SOUND(TM) technology: -- increasing demand for "compressed" i.e. lower quality but convenient entertainment products via download -- increased demand for new digital formats such as DVD/Blu-Ray content -- growth of "Surround Sound" in the motion picture industry -- growth of "Surround Sound" in home audio -- growth in demand for Re-mastering Services -- growth of the Internet Streaming of movies and music content -- growth of the HD market in broadcast and consumer electronics (high bandwidth video with low bandwidth audio) Increased Demand for "Compressed" Content The CD and DVD standards for music and video use large file sizes that are not practical for download, broadcast, wireless, internet, and satellite distribution. Broadcasters and distributors compress audio and video to varying degrees to minimize transmission time and/or required bandwidth. Consumers have been falsely led to believe they must accept lower quality in exchange for convenience. MAX SOUND(TM) technology addresses this unfair trade-off and increases the quality of playback of compressed audio. The Korg CA 30 tuner is one of the most common, most popular, and best tuners on the market. It has many features for such a small, portable tuner and can be used with virtually any instrument. I've used it on the electric guitar and bass guitar and it works fine. You can use it by plugging a cord directly into the device or just put it close to your instrument and tune that way. Either way works fine as long as the room you're in is quite enough to tune.

This tuner is fairly precise. It tunes very closely and is very easy to read, so you can easily tell if you've tunned correctly or not. One great thing is that it's so portable. You can easily carry it in your pocket, your instruments case, or anywhere you'd like. This is truly a very portable device that you can sue anywhere and everywhere you'd like.

You can easily get up to or more than 100 hours of battery life from this tuner and it's battery because the Korg CA 30 tuner has built-in features like automatically shutting off after so ling if it isn't in use.

In the end, the [http://www.guitar-reviews.org/2008/07/korg-chromatic-tuner-ca-30-2/]korg chromatic tuner ca 30 is one of the most reputable, most portable, and most easy to use tuners on the market. Korg Chromatic Tuner CA 30

Korg CA-30 Chromatic Tuner StandardThe Korg CA-30 chromatic tuner is an affordable, portable tuner that comes with many features and works with virtually any instrument. It works with brass instruments but also with electric and bass guitar. You can tune chromatically or through plugging directly into the tuner.

One of the great things about the Korg chromatic tuner CA 30 is that it is very precise. It has an LCD needle meter that shows how close and how far away you are from your targeted note, which allows you to tune extremely close to the exact note you’re looking for. It has a wide rage for detecting pitch (from C1 to C8). The LED lights show very clearly on this tuner to show how close or far away you are from your target. It tunes off automatically which is a nice feature to save batter life; additionally, on average, you can get up to 100 hours of battery life from this tuner on the same battery.

A great feature about the Korg CA30 chromatic tuner is that it’s very portable. It’s about the size of a wallet or cell phone, which makes it very easy to carry around or store in your pocket or guitar case for use whenever you need it. Despite it’s smaller size, this Korg tuner still has many features that larger, bulkier tuners are missing. It also has a tilt slit on the back that allows for it to fit on some stands for more convenience while tuning.

The features I’ve discussed are only a few of the many that this tuner posesses. The Korg CA-30 chromatic tuner is one of the most popular tuners on the market. I’ve seen countless guitar players use this tuner; in fact, I’ve seen guitarists and bassists use the Korg chromatic tuner ca 30 more frequently than any other hand-held or foot pedal tuner ever. What’s great about this is that it only costs $20, so it’s affordable for virtually anyone if you want to buy it.
