What does an hp dual tv tuner digital video recorder do?

Hi!
My brother's friend gave him a used hp dual tv tuner digital video recorder. No connectors, remote, nothing but the DVR itself. My brother is not tech savvy and his friend is, so he was too embarrased to ask what it's supposed to do. So I am asking the Yahoo Answers Community. What is a hp dual tv tuner digital video recorder used for?

You can watch one TV show while recording another, or record two TV shows while watching a pre-recorded show simultaneously. Or listen to, pause, and replay FM radio broadcasts. This turns your PC into a digital entertainment center. You need a USB 2.0 cable for connecting. Try the HP website for more details and support. Hope this helped.

Why doesnt my HP TV tuner pick up any Australian TV signals?

I recently purchased a HP tv tuner for my HP pavillion laptop off ebay. Its from the US and i have done everything the setup wizard has guided me to do. I cant seem to pick anything up or configure it correctly. Can anyone help me?
I am in Australia, and my laptop is Australian.

USA = NTSC Signal
Europe = PAL and PAL B and SECAM
UK = PAL
Australia = ???

So your US computer is set to receive NTSC Signals and Australia uses a different system.

Is there any HP TV Tuner Card For DV2762TX?

I have purchased hp dv2762tx entertainment notebook. Can anybody suggest me the compatible HP TV Tuner Card?

I have a Hauppage WinTV Nova USB Stick and it's great with Microsoft Vista - works fantastically with Media Centre but it's not my first recommendation (see below).

You are not restricted to an HP branded add on to go with your laptop. Any USB TV card will work - its just a question of how well.

Now, although I am using a Hauppage device at the moment I have to say my preferred manufacturer for TV tuners are Avermedia. This one I purchased when in hospital so I couldn't wander too far for the perfect product !

Their website is here http://www.avermedia.com/AVerTV/ and the AverTV Hybrid or the AverTV DBT USB devices both look excellent. Both are High Definition TV ready which is something to look out for.

Avermedia or Hauppage and you won't be disappointed. Avermedia's "hybrid" range usually offer Digital TV, Analogue TV (or cable if you shove the cable line in the back) and FM radio in one.

Hp Tv Tuner Analog question?

I'm planning on buying a Analog Hp Tv Tuner for my dv6000 and I have a 2 questions.
1. Will digital signal work on analog tuner because next year there'll be no analog.
2. Can I broadcast live with it.

I would like to broadcast some video gameplay on justin.tv or other streaming websites.

Analog TV is called NTSC, digital TV is called ATSC. An analog tuner won't be able to demodulate digital signals. If it doens't say digital tuner or high definition tuner or ATSC or something to that effect it's safe to assume that it can't receive digital signals and will be useless after Feb 17, 2009. A tuner is used to receive TV signals and doesn't have anything to do with broadcasting.

How do I connect the HP ExpressCard TV Tuner for Windows Vista to work on the cable in my dorm room?

I have used the tuner at my house for regular tv, but not sure how to connect it to the cable. I tried to connecting it with the provided adapter, but doesn't seem to work.

You should either have to connect the cable directly to the card and set Windows to tune cable. Or if you need a cable box you set your tuner card to channel 3 or 4 and choose channels on the cable box.

How can i connect the xbox 360 to my hp notebook w/tv tuner?

my notebook comes with the tv tuner, but I do not know how to display the game on the screen. i have all the cables, and the 360 is connected, but i dont know wat to do next... can someone plz help me out? i do not have the tv tuner manual with me.

You have to look for the software that enables you to watch the tuner video.

how do you get cable on the hp tv tuner without having to plug a cable cord int the tv tuner card???

i have all the things it cam with like the antenna and thngs

The TV tuner card is functionally the same as a TV, if you hook it up to an antenna, say on your roof (or just rabbit ears)you will get the over the air stations, to get "cable TV" you need to plug the cable from your cable TV provider into it.

And then in the setup select cable or air so you have the correct tuning scheme.

If you have cable to your TV, just get a 2 way splitter, take the cable from the TV and plug it into the splitter, then a short piece of cable from the splitter to the TV, and then however long a piece from the other port on the splitter to your computer

Is this what you mean?

Gateway One ZX6810-01: 23-Inch Multitouch AIO Has Great Performance, TV Tuner Washington Post

The ZX6810-01 also includes an HDTV tuner and a remote control--bonuses we've seen on the 23-inch HP TouchSmart 600xt ($1460), the 21.5-inch Lenovo IdeaCentre A600 ($1149), and the 24-inch Sony Vaio VPCL117FX/B ($2000) as well. But those systems also include Blu-ray drives--the Gateway doesn't. Instead, it runs rings around them at gaming (and has a DVD writer).

The ZX6810-01 managed 71 frames per second in our Unreal Tournament 3 test (run at 1680-by-1050 resolution, high quality). That's pretty amazing for an all-in-one. Sony's Vaio VPCL117FX/B did the next best at 41 fps, but both trail way behind the 27-inch, Core i5 and Core i7 Apple iMacs. Equipped with 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics, those Apple machines both achieved 112 fps in the same test.

Of course, it's those new Core i5/i7 processors that push the iMacs out in front, though it's not like the Gateway One ZX6810-01 isn't wonderfully decked out itself. It's got a 2.33GHz Core 2 Quad Q8200S processor, 8GB of DDR3-1333 memory, and dual hard disks: a 64GB Samsung solid-state drive (the boot drive) and a 1TB Western Digital drive (for general storage).

These specs almost look like they were ripped straight out of a gaming desktop. They helped the ZX6810-01 achieve a score of 105 in our WorldBench 6 benchmark--a score equal to the Sony Vaio VPCL117FX/B , but again, behind the new iMacs. Tested using 64-bit Windows 7 and Boot Camp, the $2200 Apple iMac (27-inch/Core i7) scored 128 in WorldBench 6, while the $2000 iMac (27-inch/Core i5) notched 123.

In use, the ZX6810-01's display delivers good saturation and contrasts, but a discernible backlight glow on the top and bottom of the screen becomes apparent during darker scenes. Similarly, the glossy coating produces a reflective glare that admittedly improves the vibrancy and richness of the colors and grayscales, but it comes at the cost of a powerful reflection that turns viewers and nearby light sources into unwanted extras in the scene.

The system's integrated wireless-N and gigabit LAN connectivity does much to bolster its ability to function as a multimedia-streaming device in an existing high-speed network. You also get six USB ports and an eSATA connection for external hard drives. But as I mentioned: no Blu-ray drive, a shame given the system's 1080p-compatibility.

The bundled keyboard and mouse are average, with no greater functionality than what you'd find on a standard keyboard and two-button mouse. They're wireless devices, which at least conserves ports. And Gateway's inclusion of a remote helps the ZX6810-01 bridge the gap from desktop to "living room PC." A lack of upgradability--or, at least, a lack of any mention of upgradability in the manual--means that you're stuck with what you get in this all-in-one system.

That said, there's not much we'd change about the inside of this PC. Gateway's ZX6810-01 is an absolute killer in both general and gaming performance--the latter being quite rare in the all-in-one category. A few quibbles with the system's overall display quality and the lack of Blu-ray are our chief reservations about this all-in-one desktop. The ZX6810-01 isn't as fast as the iMacs, but if you want the fastest multitouch all-in-one PC out there, the ZX6810-01 is the system to beat.

Acer Aspire Z5610: Cost-Cutting 23-inch All-in-One Has Good Performance Washington Post

Besides its big high-def screen, the goodies include a 2.6GHz Intel dual-core processor that delivered an impressive score of 101 in our WorldBench 6 benchmark suite. This score compares extremely well with those of the $2000 Sony Vaio L117FX/B (a 24-inch multitouch) and the aforementioned Gateway One ZX6810-01, which both earned 105 in WorldBench 6. Those results were beaten only by the new Core i7- and Core i5-based 27-inch Apple iMacs, the category-leading speedsters. Tested using 64-bit Windows 7 and Boot Camp, the $2200 Apple iMac (27-inch/Core i7) scored 128 to the $2000 iMac (27-inch/Core i5) 's result of 123. Blazing.

The Z5610 was trumped by all those PCs in our gaming tests, but its 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4570 graphics chip does deliver playable frame rates that go neck-and-neck with HP's $1460 TouchSmart 600xt . The Acer managed 40 fps in Unreal Tournament 3 (1024 by-768 resolution, high quality), though that halved to 24 fps at 1680 by 1050 (same settings).

So here's one way Acer kept the Z5160's price so low: While other big screen all-in-one PCs (over 20 inches) boast anywhere from 600GB to 1TB of storage, the Z5160 goes only as high as 320GB of storage. It's a fair amount, if not average for most systems below the Z5160's price. Still, a jump up to 500GB would seem fitting. On the upside, 802.11n Wi-Fi and gigabit LAN connectivity ensures that you'll always have access to the fastest performance available no matter what your personal networking preference is.

The system's 23-inch touchscreen panel is well-utilized by the preinstalled plethora of Acer software, including a backup manager, a social networking application, a media hub, and a giant portal for launching (and dragging around) all sorts of individual applications. This bundle easily rivals HP's bevy of awesome applications for a touch-sensitive device. As for the screen's picture quality, the display is as bright as it is crisp. It delivers excellent saturation that really makes movies and graphics pop with life, and the powerful contrasts--hampered slightly by the strong glare of the system's glossy panel--do an equally excellent job displaying both the blacks and whites of a scene. The system's included speakers are of the usual all-in-one desktop quality: not great, but not worse than an average laptop's.

An average load-out of six USB ports, split across the system's side and rear, is sweetened by the unique inclusion of a single eSATA port. Although a nod to a more conventional (and widely used) display connector would have been a better choice, one can't really fault the Z5160 in its attempt to appeal to users of high-performance external storage devices. A single multiformat card reader sits on the system's side, as does a DVD writer. No Blu-ray love at this price.

The gray keyboard and mouse included with the Z5610 are each as ugly as the other. The former comes with additional function keys for launching applications and controlling media playback, but a giant volume wheel built into the keyboard's upper-right corner looks downright weird. The system's boxy mouse is a generic two-button model with wireless capabilities--that means it should still get a signal when you toss it in the trash in favor of a device that's a bit friendlier on the eyes and fingers. These are truly hideous devices to look at.

With no mention in the manual of any way to replace or upgrade the components, you should assume that you're stuck with what you're getting. That's a shame, considering that its versions of the most easily replaceable parts in a conventional PC are the only real drawbacks to the Z5610's stellar performance and quality. Up the storage a little bit, swap out the optical drive for a Blu-ray device, and you'd have an unstoppable machine on your hands.

As it stands, the Z5160 delivers a killer combination of reasonable price, powerful performance, and beautiful graphics. The preceding suggestions would only be the icing on the cake of a fantastic all-in-one desktop.
