I have a Pioneer AVH-P6600 car dvd player, I planning to install it myself....?

I was wondering if i could install the unit without the brain(module that allows you to add additional screens) and have it fully functional. I heard that you still need the brain installed even if you don't plan on adding screens. Is this true???

Yes, you'll need the brain.

Pioneer Car DVD Players - any good??

I know they make good home stereos. What do you guys think of the Pioneer In Dash DVD players and where can i get some reviews?

I personally have one and I love it. I use it all of the time. I burn music to DVD so I can have 900 songs on one disc. Check http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?i=130AVICN3&tp=144&tab=review for reviews of the product you are interested in.

I have the AVH-P5900 and the picture is really good for something so portable. Remeber, it's a car - not a home theater. lol. I don't think their are too many companies making these type of products. Anyways, here's some more info on them.

I am looking for a Pioneer 5700 DVD/CD player for my car for a good price. Any suggestions?

I would like to find in at a good pawn shop in Kentucky that might have it.

Go to www.bizrate.com for the best prices available for the DVD/CD you are looking for.

Can I use my car DVD player with my sound system?

I have an Epik VL-5806 dvd player. Can I use it with my pioneer subs and amp?
It has RCA jacks in the back so that is the easy part. I was just wondering about the output voltage. I think my amp is rated for .5 to 6 amps. Any idea what a dvd player puts out?

How does the sound from your dvd player to your car speakers. If they do hook up with your car speakers than its easy all you need is a line out converter which takes signal from your coax speakers and turns it into a rca out put . if its just headsets in the car good luck. sorry nothing you can do if it doesn't connect with your car speakers.

How can you watch the dvd while your car is moving with a Pioneer AVH in dash dvd player?

Drive on a road in which all your family, friends and relatives use so my loved ones don't have to be injured or die. Who gives a crap if it's a Pioneer AVH. Sounds like you only bought it because you are materialistic enough to advetise what you have.

take your eyes off the road and watch it.

why would you even want to? that is a stupid idea for the driver but the passengers should be okay.

You can"t they have a built in saftey feature that soeas that, and before you say the head unit is crap know that you can get around it but it is illegal to have a video screen where the driver can see it and get distracted. It's a saftey thing dude your gonna have to just not worry about it.

Ok as an installer i do not wire it up so it will play when the vechile is in motion if it is in the driver field of view, but what i can do is suggest the customer to do it themselves, which removes us from the liability issues. All dvd screen units have a wire out the back that is wired up to the emergency brake, if the e-brake is on, the unit will play, if its off the unit will not play dvds. So what you need to do is find out if the e-brake or the wire for your unit is a grounding wire or a 12 volt postive. if its a 12 volt postive, wire it up to your accessory, usually the yellow wire in most cars, if its a grounding wire then ground out the wire to the chassis. Keep in mind this is illegal and use at your own discretion.

What DVD Player in Dash for a car is better the Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD or the Jensen UV8020 ?

Do u like the ones that flip out or none ?

Will This DVD player fit in my car and if so what is needed for installation?

The car is a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix stock HU w/o the monsoon system and the DVD player is a Pioneer AVIC- D3

You need a dash kit and a pair of wiring harnesses from any local shop that sells car stereo equipment. The big guys like Best Buy and Circuit City will be cheaper and you should be able to get all the parts you need for around $30 or so.

Even though, you dont have the monsoon system, some Pontiacs are still grounded through a bolt on the back of the stereo instead of through the wiring harness. If you ask really nicely, they might be able to print out the wiring diagrams and dash removal instructions for your car.
Also, dont be dumb and let someone tell you to skip the aftermarket harness and hardwire the stereo, if it's an '04, cutting of the OEM harness will void your warranty. And if you leave frayed or cut wires in the dash, you might accidentally deploy the airbag.

Pioneer AVHP-4000 Car Head - can someone help me please?

I need to know if this kind of Pioneer DVD player for cars is able to kind of takew the head off when not in the car like a security reason or something like that like normal players. - or does it turn around inside out ? - because I don't want someone to break my glass to steal it :)

will i be able to use a in dash dvd player for my car in south africa if i buy it from the usa? How do i know?

it's a pioneer AHV-P5700dvd car player

not exactly familiar with that model but industry wise it should not work.
DVD players are region coded. A player bought in the US should be region 1.
A movie bought in Africa should be region 2.
Put the movie in and the player is supposed to tell you that it can't play because of the region conflict.

So, to work you would have to order your movies from the US, which might be a customs hassle. Or look for moveis that are marked "any" or "Open" region coding (like porn).
Or sometimes on the internet you can find out how to modify the region coding for your player.

Where can I find a dvd in dash player for my car?

I have a 2001 toyota celica and I have been looking around for In-dash DVD players with a NAV system. The thing is tho, not all in-dash players fit in my car. Where can i find out which players can fit in my car?

I have been looking at a Pioneer touch screen, AVH, but I cannot find the NAV system for it besides directly from Pioneer, which is almost $2000.

So, can you recommend a nice DVD in dash player w/ Nav that is affordable, (even if its on ebay) and is touch screen, and is adaptable to my car. Thanks!

Radio Shack or Best Buy.

Here is a video of a Pioneer AVH P5000 installed with the parking brake bypass

Review: Pioneer AVIC-F10BT In-Dash Satnav System Gizmodo Australia
In the glovebox of the car is an iPod cable. It’s quite long, so you could run it all the way to the back, although you probably wouldn’t. Once you plug in your iPod or iPhone, it starts charging and all control goes through to the AVIC system. And it’s a very familiar interface – you get most of the same menus as your iPod, album art and a big “clickwheel” (although it’s really just a big four-way button on the touchscreen that looks like a clickwheel. It’s not a complete translation of your iPod though – there’s no support for Genius or Genius mixes, which is a bit of a shame.

But that’s made up for by the fact that the AVIC supports video. Sure, for safety reasons it’s restricted to when you have the handbrake on, but just the fact that you can play back video from your iPhone on your display is fantastic. If you have rear screens in your car, you can use the AVIC to send video from your iPhone to the rear seats while you use the satnav.

Of course, there’s also the built-in DVD player which will do the same thing, as well as play back CDs (both audio and MP3). The SD card also plays back music, and although I didn’t get to test it, the specs say it’ll play back DivX and H.264 files via either the SD or DVD slots.

There’s also the ability to play stereo Bluetooth through the system, and if your car has steering wheel audio controls, you can get them wired up to control the AVIC, although the car I was driving didn’t have them.

Being a Pioneer car, the audio playback was pretty awesome, but most of that was the speakers. In terms of controls, the touchscreen managed most of it, although there are dedicated volume and track forwards and back buttons on the bottom of the screen.

Bluetooth The Bluetooth functionality is a godsend. My last car had a Motorola Bluetooth hands-free kit installed that used the car’s speakers, and despite being valued at a few hundred dollars, it had nothing on the AVIC’s Bluetooth. For a start, the AVIC has a screen, which lets you see details a more traditional Bluetooth system could only dream of. Once you’ve paired up your phone, you can see your signal strength and your network on the screen. But the killer is the ability to copy your contact list from the phone over to the AVIC’s 2GB of internal storage, which means you can easily call anyone on your contact list with a few presses of the touchscreen. You also get missed calls, recent calls and a shortcut to your home number easily located on the phone’s main screen.

Considering the legal implications of using your phone while driving these days, this is almost worth the price of admission in itself. OK, not quite, but it’s still the best implementation of installed Bluetooth I’ve played with.

Satnav There’s a lot to be said for navigation on a seven-inch screen. It’s easy to view, easy to control and, well, that’s pretty much it. Considering I’ve long been lamenting the fact that satnavs tend to be fairly stagnant in terms of new features that are actually useful, having a device with such a big screen was quite refreshing. It uses the latest WhereIs maps, which shows off things like golf courses on the screen as you drive past them. It’s also big enough that it can display your music track information (and album artwork) on the screen at the bottom, even with the satnav running.

There are a couple of other noteworthy aspects to the satnav – first off, it’s a learning device, so if you like to take a particular shortcut, it’ll start directing you that way when you next take that route.

The other big thing is a result of the device been installed – the device will actually track your position when you drive through tunnels. No beeps and messages about lost satellite reception. No confusion about underground exits. In other words, proper navigation wherever you are. And that’s awesome. It really is.

The AVIC-F10BT comes with SUNA traffic, although I have no idea where the TMC antenna is. It’s certainly not running along the bottom of your front windshield, and doesn’t need to be plugged in each time you want to use the satnav.

The Menu This device costs $2999, plus installation. It’s the top of the range Pioneer AVIC system though, and offers the ability to control rear screens and audio output if you have a truly kickass speaker setup in your car. It also works with a reverse camera, which can be installed as an optional extra.

But despite all that, $3K still seems pretty steep. But there are a couple of things to consider – if you’re buying a new car, you’re likely to pay that much to get a satnav option, but you’ll probably miss out on the whole Bluetooth and iPod functionality. The other thing is that Pioneer have a cheaper option , which has a smaller screen and fewer functions, but maintains the core aspects of the device (iPod, Bluetooth and satnav) selling for under a grand (plus installation). Considering top of the line satnavs cost almost a grand, that’s incredibly good value. You do need a double DIN free in your car, but if you can spare it and the cash to get it installed, I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this system. It’s a complete solution for most of your in-car needs, and well worth the price of admission.

TIGER WOODS 'HAS NOTHING MORE TO ADD': Golfer's lawyer says he now has no plans to speak to police about the car crash.

*After Tiger Woods refused questioning from Florida Highway Patrol officers on three separate occasions regarding his controversial car crash Friday, a lawyer for the golf champ now says he has no plans to discuss the incident with police, ever.

"We have been informed by the Florida Highway Patrol that further discussion with them is both voluntary and optional," Woods' IMG agent Mark Steinberg wrote in an e-mail Sunday. "Although Tiger realizes that there is a great deal of public curiosity, it has been conveyed to FHP that he simply has nothing more to add and wishes to protect the privacy of his family."

Police first tried to interview Woods, 33, on Friday, but his wife Elin Nordegren asked if they could return the next day because he was sleeping. Woods then turned them away Saturday and again on Sunday.

Woods' new attorney Mark Nejame also issued a statement late Sunday: "We stand by Mr. Woods' previous released statement regarding his privacy.
Otherwise, I have nothing further to add at this time."

However, TMZ.com is claiming that FHP is now trying to get a search warrant -- allowing them to seize medical records from the hospital that treated Woods -- in an attempt to determine if the wounds Woods sustained are consistent with a car accident or domestic violence.

TMZ has reported that Woods facial lacerations were actually inflicted by his wife, Elin, who was upset over a National Enquirer story two days earlier claiming he had an affair with Rachel Uchitel.

Woods also spoke out Sunday, saying on his Web site: "This situation is my fault and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I'm human and I'm not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn't happen again."

Meanwhile, Woods has backed out of his Chevron World Challenge in Thousand Oaks, Calif., which benefits his foundation. Citing injuries from his car accident, Woods announced he would neither play nor appear at the four-day tournament, which begins Thursday at Sherwood Country Club.

"I am extremely disappointed that I will not be at my tournament this week," Woods wrote in a post on his official Web site on Monday. "I am certain it will be an outstanding event and I'm very sorry that I can't be there."

SERENA FINED LARGEST AMOUNT IN USTA HISTORY: US Open tirade will cost her more than 82 grand.

*Serena Williams was fined a record $82,500 for her U.S. Open outburst against a lineswoman and could be suspended from the annual New York event if she has another "major offense" at any Grand Slam in the next two years.

Monday's ruling from Grand Slam administrator Bill Babcock said Williams faces a "probationary period" at tennis' four major championships in 2010 and 2011. If she has another "major offense" at a Grand Slam tournament in that time, the fine would increase to $175,000 and she would be barred from the following U.S. Open.

"But if she does not have another offense in the next two years, the suspension is lifted," Babcock told the Associated Press.

He said Williams must pay $82,500 right now, already nearly double the previous highest fine for a Grand Slam offense — about $48,000 Jeff Tarango was docked in the 1990s.

Williams cursed out a lineswoman after a foot-fault call at the end of her semifinal loss to eventual champion Kim Clijsters at the U.S. Open in September. The outburst drew a $10,000 fine from the U.S. Tennis Association in September — the maximum onsite penalty a tennis player can face. But because it happened at a Grand Slam tournament, Babcock was charged with investigating whether further punishment was merited.

He concluded that Williams violated the "major offense" rule for "aggravated behavior." The Grand Slam committee — with one representative from each of the sport's four major championships — approved his decision Saturday.

Williams, currently in Barbados for an exhibition tournament, has been informed of the ruling, Babcock said.

CONGRESS WANTS WHITE HOUSE PARTY CRASHERS: Salahai's called to testify before Congress on Thursday.

*The Secret Service director and the reality show wannabes who crashed the Obama administration's first state dinner have been called to testify before Congress on Thursday to discuss what went awry.

Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., the top Democrat on the House Homeland Security committee, said he wants to know what Secret Service security deficiencies allowed Michaele and Tareq Salahi into the Nov. 24 White House dinner, even though they were not on the guest list.

"This is a time for answers," Thompson said in a statement Monday.
"This is not the time for political games or scapegoating to distract our attention from the careful oversight we must apply to the Secret Service and its mission."

Some lawmakers have called for criminal charges to be brought against the couple, but the Secret Service has yet to do so.

The Secret Service declined to comment on whether Director Mark Sullivan would testify on Thursday. On Friday, Sullivan issued a statement saying that his agency is "deeply concerned and embarrassed" by the circumstances.

"The preliminary findings of our internal investigation have determined established protocols were not followed at an initial checkpoint, verifying that two individuals were on the guest list," Sullivan said.
"Although these individuals went through magnetometers and other levels of screening, they should have been prohibited from entering the event entirely. That failing is ours."

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Monday the president shares the Secret Service director's concern about the incident.

Michaele Salahi is a reality TV hopeful trying to get on Bravo's "The Real Housewives of D.C." The couple's publicist, Mahogany Jones, could not immediately be reached for comment about whether the Salahis would testify Thursday. But earlier Monday, Jones said allegations that the Salahis are shopping interviews and demanding money from television networks to tell their story are false.

JACKSON'S 'THIS IS IT' SETS DVD ARRIVAL: Movie will come with loads of extras, including mini-documentaries and music videos.

*The Michael Jackson documentary "This Is It" is coming to DVD and Blu-ray Disc on Jan. 26, Sony announced Monday.

Both versions will include several mini-documentaries and other special features. The Blu-ray Disc also will include two versions each of the Jackson music videos "Smooth Criminal" and "Thriller."

The DVD of "This Is It" will carry a suggested retail price of $28.96 and the Blu-ray version an SRP of $39.95. A PlayStation Portable disc is also planned, priced at $24.94.

The film has made $71 million in domestic box office since its Oct.
28 premiere in theaters.

AUNJANUE ELLIS JOINS 'THE MENTALIST': Actress to play new head of the California Bureau of Investigation.

*Aunjanue Ellis has joined the cast of sophomore CBS drama "The Mentalist" in a recurring role as the "beautiful but tough new head of the California Bureau of Investigation," according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Ellis' character is installed following the resignation of the unit's former chief, Virgil Minelli, played by Gregory Itzin. She is brought in to restore discipline and morale to the division after the murder of three agents, including Agent Sam Bosco (Terry Kinney), and will be the new supervisor of Agent Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney).

"The Mentalist" revolves around Lisbon's team and the help they get from independent consultant Patrick Jane (Simon Baker).

Ellis, who appeared in "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3" and co-starred on Broadway's "Joe Turner's Come and Gone," is tentatively set to make her "Mentalist" debut in April.

Her next big screen project is "Game of Death" opposite Wesley Snipes, due in 2010.
