Where is the best place to install an active crossover?

i just bought an active crossover for my amp and i don't know where to put it in my Ford probe i need help. thanx!

Why do you want an active crossover? Do you have any idea how to use it? You'll do more harm then good if you don't.

Install it where ever it's convenient. Near the amplifier maybe. In your center console, glove box, storage box in the back, spare tire hole, etc. Anywhere it will fit and you can securely mount it. There is no right or wrong place to mount it.

How do I get power to an active crossover for my car?

I bought a Soundstorm Laboratories 150x on eBay, not realizing it was active. I'm generally pretty knowledgeable in the means of DIY wiring, but I have no experience in car audio. How/where do you get connections the +12v, remote and ground?

Run a wire of the same size as the power (+12v) to the battery for power.

Ground the unit to any bare metal spot on the car or existing ground connection (best).

Run a fused wire (same size as on the unit) from a fuse in the fuse panel that only has power when the car is ON to one side of a switch. From the other side of the switch run the same sized wire to the REM (remote) connection on the amp.

This allows for full control and you never have to worry about forgetting to turn off the X-over.

You can find fuse taps and in-line fuse holders at any autoparts store.

how do you install an active crossover?

how do you install a crossover and can you use a equalizer with a crossover?

YOU DONT NEED ONE.

An active crossover operates at line-level and goes between the head unit and your amps. Each output of the x-over is labeled as to which frequency range it represents or to a particular channel. And yes, you can use an eq. A x-over will send whichever range of frequencies you select to a particular amp, but an eq will modify those frequencies (tailor them to your personal preference). Also, most eq's have level controls for your sub, some are even x-overs as well. In case you run into duplicate capabilities in the equipment you find, just remember that you won't be able to adjust the crossover while driving, so you may not want all the bells and whistles on it. But an eq is always right there so you can adjust the sound to your liking.

Is it advisable to use an active crossover to a powered speaker?

Is it advisable to use an active crossover to a powered speaker?

I think you can, but most powered speakers usually come with crossovers built in. Just don't use a crossover to send lows to the horn or something like that. I don't believe that the active crossover will do any harm other than that

How do i reverse the crossovers in active speakers?

You dont want to do that.If you do you will be sending low frequencies thru your tops and vice versa,it wont sound nice.

Not sure exactly what the problem is. Explain more about the fault and I'll try...

I have a crossover cable to connect my Xbox to my PC I also have a Samsung Blackjack that has internet sharing

I link my xbox to my pc with the crossover cable and i also linked up my samsung blackjack with internet sharing to my pc via a datalink cable that came with it. I active the cellphone and it acts as a mobile modem for my PC. Which alows me to get internet on the PC from anywhere. I have used this for world of warcraft in the past. I guess what my question is is after I set up all the things the xbox says the crossover cable is there and it connects to the IP of the phone but it gets hung up at the DNS. It says the "DNS not resolved". Is there anyway to fix this. I have a plan on cingular that alows me to get unlinited connection speed from the phone and i know it is like a dsl connection. So how can I fix this? Does anyone have any Ideas?

This is the third time ive answered this question! Your phone cant act as a router, it is unable to supply your laptop with an IP which is needed for network connectivity. your phone provider will provide a single IP which your phone will use, your phone cannot create new IP.s only a router can do this. Anyway on with the question I suppose!

On your phone somewhere will be your IP address, look for the DNS address on this; if its anything like windows mobile it will be under network connections or ipconfig /all from a command prompt will do. Write down the DNS address, this address will be the address of your DNS server.
This will also work with your computer, go to run>cmd then type ipconfig /all (the info should be the same).

I cant see why an xbox would use DNS anyway, not like they use web addresses at all its all game servers on obscure ports.

I just looked up the maximum data speed which is 600kbps which I'm suprised at to be honest but its still a third of what is needed for online gaming without delays.

how do i connect my speakers and my subwoofers?

I have a 3000 watt amp powering 2 dual 15'' loud speakers, I want to buy 2 18'' passive subwoofers, another power amp, and an active crossover. do the master outputs go to the amps first or to the crossover? do i need one crossover for each sub? what is the importance of Ohms?

go to Monster cable website , they will show you how to do
by yourself with easy understanding connection picture

Would I be able to go to a COMPETITION with this system?

What class would I be in? How would I do? And what could I do to make my system better?

Here's my setup:

Car: 96 Ram Ext. Cab

Subs: 4 Infinity Kappa Perfect 10DVQs

Midranges: 2 Infinity Kappa Perfect 5-1/4"s and 2 Alpine Type-S 5-1/4"s

Tweeters: 2 Infinity Kappa Perfect 1" Aluminum Domes and 2 TREO 1" Titanium Domes

Amps: Zapco DC 1100.1 for the subs and Crossfire XP 600.4 for the midranges and tweeters

Headunit: Sony CDX-M1000TF

Power and other: Dual Battery System. Capacitator. Active crossover setup before the two amps to split the highs and lows.

The subs are in a custom box. We took out the center console and built a box extending from the very front where the center console was to the very back, but it slants down so I can still have a back seat in. The subs are all facing down towards the floor in the box. Its actually the tighest box set up I've ever seen, but I don't have all the specs on it, so I hope you can work without that.
So would this be good enough to compete? And if not what would I have to do to get it up to that level? And what kind of class would I be in if i did compete in like a dB drag, Sound off, or SPL comp?
Oh, and just as a little sidenote, when I have my volume not even all the way up, my mirrors all vibrate and shake like crazy, like I can't even use them cuz I can't see whats going on, and for some songs that have really loud booms, the rear window will start flexing.

Hey man,
Here are the rules. I'm familiar with Zapco and their amps but I don't feel like looking up your amps and their exact specs. Bottom line is that if you have less than 1,200 watts (RMS @ 4ohms) then you will qualify for the Street Class with your 4 subs. Since your box is your entire center console that might be considered as "Modifications to the Passenger Compartment".

It would be worth it and fun to go and qualify for the Street Class but if they put you in the Super Street Class where competitors have a lot more freedom and can power their subs how ever they please you would get totally blown out of the water. I mean it would be embarrassing if you had to compete with some guys that have spent 100's of hours and in some cases $20K+ on their systems just for SPL drags.

This, of course is pertaining to DB drags, not SQ competitions.

If you were wanting to enter into a SQ competition then it would be a whole other ball game. on the local lever you could possibly be competitive but I have seen $80K+ SQ installs..... It's hard to actually "compete" in this game when there are people with, what seems like, unlimited resources.....

Do i need a Crossover setup?

I have a 88 plymouth 2 door sundance, I have two 10 inch subs running at 500 Watts each on a 1000 Watt insignia amp. I have two pioneer 5x1/4 speakers on the front doors. The two back speakers are stock but i am replacing them soon. The pioneers are not amped, they are just hooked up to the cars original speaker wires. I was just wondering if i need a crossover system and if i should amp the speakers. I want an active crossover because i am gonna get a new amp and subs that are more watts, and then im gonna get speakers for the back of the car. i know how to wire everything its just that i don't want to buy a crossover and not need one. Also if i should amp the speakers, how do you block the bass cause i dont want to blow them out. Please help me. Also i am selling my 12 inch pioneer 800 watt sub for 80 bucks, it comes with a box but the box is nothing special but it gets the job done. i am also selling the 10 inch subs for 120 with a vented box, if your interested let me know.

do I have to connect my front 2 speakers to my active sub woofer?

I Have a DSP-AX759SE Yamaha AV Amp how do I connect a active Eltax Subwoofer do I have to connect my front left & right Speakers to the subwoofer and what are the settings on the sub switches (phase / crossover / volume) Thanx

Look at the rear panel on your DSP-AX759SE.

In the middle are 8 sockets, marked "Pre-out"

On the bottom row, third from the left, one of them is labelled "Subwoofer".

The Eltax plugs into that, using a phono cable.

Enjoyment of Chery Tiggo Brunei News, Brunei Headlines from Brunei fm

The steering wheel is mounted with audio controls that give greater operating ease through audio adjustments without drivers taking their hands away from the steering wheel, and the premium audio system with a CD tuner, USB and MP3 capability delivers high-quality sound throughout the cabin.

Tiggo also adopts the present prevailing high-class car chassis, professionally adjusted by the Britain’s Group LOTUS PLC, solid and steady, resulting in the best combination of sports and comfort, while this chassis matches perfectly with the car’s engine, thus bringing greater driving pleasure.

Made of aluminium alloy and composite materials, Tiggo adopts the lightweight technology leading in the State 863 Plan – China’s strategic high-tech research development plan created in 1987, with its average fuel consumption for every 100km reduced by eight per cent, a miracle among the mid-level sedans.

With new drive, new space and new experience, Tiggo brings you a brand new driving experience and a lifestyle characterised by fashion, activity and tastefulness, as well as the use of the ACTECO SQR484F, which is a 1,971cc DOHC engine, providing a 10.2:1 compression ratio and maximum power at 95/5,750 (Kw/rpm) and maximum torque at 180/4300~4500 (Nm/rpm).

ACTECO has two meanings; the first indicates that the engine is the result of a technical cooperation between AVL Co Austria and Chery Automobile.

Secondly, it indicates that the engine is a product with characteristics of economic efficiency, energy saving and environmental protection by using first-class international technologies that advantageously lower the economic and social costs during application.

What’s more, driving the Tiggo is like driving a high-end car, as ACTECO engine is quieter, more powerful, more energy-efficient and more environmentally friendly, giving you much peace of mind – driving without being bordered by engine noise.

Chery engineers, in applying the philosophy of Safety For Everyone, have equipped every Tiggo with double SRS front airbags and side-impact door beams for all four doors.

Additionally in guaranteeing smooth braking, every Tiggo comes with the Anti-Lock Brakes System (ABS) and Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD). The safety configuration includes the three active devices of ABS, EBD and four-wheel disc brake.

The five passive safety equipments are extra-large chassis of the B-class car, prolonged front-buffer, energy-absorbing, steering-column, pre-tightening safety belt and sidewall steel, and an anti-collision bar, giving vehicle users an all-round safety configuration.

Its safety performance makes its reference to that of SUVs, with both its active and passive safety performance, surpassing that of the ordinary cars completely.

The new ABS and EBD from TEVIS Germany, the four-wheels’ disc brake with extra large diameter and striking LED high-position brake lights create the new concept of vehicle safety.

The multi-variance of an MPV’s space is that of Tiggo space, which is designed with reference to MPVs with its multi-variant front- and back-row seats enjoying a higher capacity, no matter used for passenger or cargo transportation, thus the flexibility of its space combination provides a wider living space for all.
