What amp should i get for my new Rockford Fosgate Speakers?

I just got two RF T1693C 6x9 speakers. I also got two RF T162c 6.5" speakers and two tweeters, RF T1T. The 6x9 are 110 watts rms, the 6.5 are 75 watts rms, and the tweeters are 100 watts rms. I am mostly interested in a Rockford amp, but if something is better, let me know. I want one amp that will power all of the speakers perfectly, if that is possible.

get a bosch amp. bosch is the best audio brand. it is the best quality and sounds great.

i want to buy Rockford Speakers for my car.does anyone know if they are any good?

im looking into getting P1694C
6"x9" 4-Way Full-Range ROCKFORD Speakers.
does anyone know if they're good? thanks.

rockford is a really good brand. those should be some pretty decent speakers. but like mentioned earlier they are from the Punch line of speakers. if you look at the speakers with the T before the model number. those line of speakers are more high powered and will be much louder. but if your just running your speakers off your deck with no 4 channel amp then go with the punch speakers

yes they should be just fine

there fairly decent, but there from the PUNCH line of speakers. i would go with T1692C (2way) from the POWER line of speakers. they have higher power handling. also, do you plan on adding an amp? if so, i recomend the T5002.

Rockford is a good brand. If you ever decide on anything else though, I recommend Alpine, they have a really clear sound and are very good quality.

how good are the Rockford fosgate speakers?

i bought a 2007 eclipse and it came with this system is it really that good?

if you like how it sounds, then that is really good. if you don't, then they are no good. then it is all a matter of how much time, effort and money you are willing to invest to improve the quality until you like it. simply speaking, though, yes that is a good setup. not the best but much much much better than most stock systems. it all comes down to a matter of taste. if you plan on replacing anything, though, be careful because that system has an amplifier hidden under your driver's seat (beneath the carpet) that powers all the speakers. the head unit is just a control center, so if you replace the head unit you are going to have a chore of routing pretty much all your own wires to the speakers.

Fosgate is one of the best for car audio. Although it probably didn't come with their best stuff, you can add an amp, subs, etc to your liking and its not too expensive compared to Alpine and some of the others. If you add or have an amp, one of the best components you can add is a preamp (type of equalizer) so you can adjust any type of music to your liking.

Rockford Fosgate is one of the more well known Car Audio brands considered to be on the higher end of the spectrum!
Just remember thought this system in your car was designed for mass production so it will not be the best that Rocford has to offer! But for stock should be very good...

depends what series how ther hooked up but yea rock has good quality subs

my own personal opinion is they are the best! i have a truck that i show on a regular basis and i have 6 pro 18" running off of a power 1000 amp. along with 2-8", 4-5.25", 4-3", and 6 1" ferrous tweeters ( all are Rockford Fosgate). the 8" and below are run off of a power 650 amp. i have found that the speakers last and can take the abuse that you put them through in serious competitions. my show truck has won numerous audio contest and consistently hits 150 db's and above in the db contest. another item of interest, in the daytona spring nationals i had the honor of going up against the alpine lamborgini and beat him out to take first place. so the brand Rockford Fosgate are that good!

Should I get JL audio speakers or Rockford Fosgate?

I listen to rock more than anything else, so I want a speaker that will be loud.

Also where do they put an amp if you get speakers that can take a lot of watts?

ROCKFORD CAN HANDLE A LOT OF BASS. PUT THE AMP IN THE TRUNK. JL SOUNDS PRETTY GOOD TOO. IT COMES DOWN TO BUDGET.HOW MUCH ARE YOU WILLING TO SPARE?

Get Boston Acoustics they are great. I have 3 amps hidden in spare tire compartment.

Rockford Fosgate, or should I say Jokeford Fosbreak's quality level has gone down the drain since the mid-90's.

RF should never be compared to JL, ever.

Have Fun!

Rockford System Should I get new speakers or head unit?

I can't decide if I should get a new head unit or speakers first? What would add and make my system sound better? Currently i have two Rockford 12" subs and a mono channel amp by rockford? Any suggestions on what head unit or speakers i should get with this system?

Get a deck first... a deck will #1 amplify your speakers a bit more... "well a nicer deck will" may i suggest alpines line
#2 it will cleanup the quality of sound and make them sound better
and #3 it will be more prepared to handle/work with any sound upgrades you are planning on.

Sounds like you've got some pretty decent speakers, I'd go head unit.

no bra go for the speakers first. you will instantlly hear a difference in the quality where as if you go for the deck first your just gonna get newer fancy features

Rockford Fosgate Punch P1462C are these speakers good?

Just got a 1999 Sonoma it has 4 speakers 2 in the front and 2 in the doors. Where would I put these to sound the best?

they have a good RMS wattage rating (any higher you would need an amp to have them sound their best) and the frequency response is good, but you would be better off with some that have a higher sensitivity
A speaker with a sensitivity rating that's 3 dB higher than another speaker's only needs half as much power to deliver the same amount of sound.

What kind of amp do i need for two 12 inch 300 watt rockford fosgate subs, and two 6.5 inch speakers?

Do i need mono, 2-channel, or multi channel?
Do i need more than one amp?

Your best bet would be two amps,a mono amp for the subs and a 2 channel amp for the 6.5's.
And if you run separate rca's to each amp you will be able to control the speakers and subs independently.
If you have or buy a aftermarket radio just make sure it has at least two preamp outputs.
One for the subs and one for the 6.5's.

Or you could buy one mono amp for the subs and then run the 6.5's off of the radio.

rockford fosgate speakers?

i got rockford fosgate 5 1/4 speakers in my wrangler. they run off my head unit putting about 50 to ea. which is no where near what they will take but they like buzz when someone is talking on the radio. anything that could fix that or even know why its doing that?

Most likely that's not the speakers but the deck. Speakers only mimic the signal being fed. If the signal has noise, the speakers will produce it.

HOWEVER, if the speakers or speaker grills are loose and vibrate, they will be the culprit.

Rockford Fosgate speakers. Powering them.?

I want to get 4 Rockford Fosgate speakers:

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/product_details.asp?cat_id=3&series_id=33&family_id=14&item_id=101671&locale=en_US&p_status=

Ok, don't try to say they suck. I love Rockford Fosgate no matter what you say about that, BUT they have a 25 watt RMS difference in their power. I want to use an amp on them but... How do I use a 4 channel amp with them if they are that different in RMS? Or will it matter? Or can I set it so 2 channels put out 50 watts and the other put out 75? I don't know what to do.

Go with the lesser of the two. Exceeding the RMS of a speaker by more than 10% is not recommended.

Which brand of car speakers for a 98 ford explorer sport is better; rockford fosgate or clarion [5x7's] ??

Im looking to replace the stock speakers in my explorer sport, and a friend is offering to sell me 2 of his clarion 5x7's for $40 and another friend said he could do my whole car [4 speakers] with rockford fosgates for $80. Which brand of speakers is better and will give me a better sound quality, price aside??

since you didn't list the model numbers for comparison i am going to go with the Clarion's, Fosgates have better subs and amps but for inside speakers they are not so hot
but you can go for the ones that have the higher sensitivity, and the largest frequency range (or the frequency range that suits your music taste)

Driving Northwest: A new model that may suprise you KING5.com

For many Americans the brand Suzuki means motorcycles, boat motors or, if you’re into classical music, a method of learning the violin. Cars?  Not as much. Unless you’re a gearhead, it’s easy to believe Aerio, Esteem and Equator are hip clothing stores. Surprising then that worldwide, Suzuki sell more cars than BMW, Mazda or Mercedes. Been in a Chevy Sprint, Tracker or Geo Metro?  Then you’ve experienced Suzuki. Their Wagon R is one of the most popular cars in Japan. Just a little fun fact for the carpool gang tomorrow morning.

After that tidbit, throw out this word- Kizashi (and don’t be surprised if someone responds gesundheit). Suzuki has chosen this name for their new midsized sedan, a segment not for the faint of heart. In Japanese Kizashi means “prelude” or “a sign of great things to come”. Appropriate since Suzuki appears to be getting serious about the American market. Kizashi runs with Altima, Accord, Fusion, and Passat but they also claim Acura TSX and Audi A4 as competitors. The Suzuki undercuts them all when it comes to price. A front drive Kizashi that includes power windows and locks, dual zone climate control and keyless ignition starts at $19,700 including shipping and prep.

Value doesn’t mean cheap looking here

My loaded SLS all-wheel drive tester stickers for $27,480. That’s a pretty decent deal. It’s a bit of a black art to build a car to a lower price point. The old phrase robbing Peter to pay Paul comes to mind. Common places for the bean counters to cut are the headliner, carpeting and lower door panels but these all look fine. Lights on the door bottoms illuminate any puddles lurking in the dark. Kizashi’s only real budget give-a-way is a lack of hydraulic struts for the hood.

Cabin materials look darn good. The instrument panel’s top may be hard plastic but the ones that matter, those that are touched have a soft feel. Satin finshed trim looks smart. The lined glove box opens with a dampened glide. Leather chairs are supportive and motorized with the driver’s throne getting 3 memory positions. They also have 3 levels of heat. Camry only has an on/off setting. The Kizashi’s fit and finish handily beats the last Toyota I drove but the interior is less roomy. The lighting could use a little calming though. Gauges are white, knobs get red.  There’s also green and blue. Foot well lights are gold. It’s like my neighbor’s house at Christmas. Volkswagen now owns a chunk of Suzuki. I suggest they talk.

The power to move you

Kizashi’s only engine is a 2. 4-liter 4-cylinder that makes 180 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque when mated to the optional continuously variable transmission. Order the 6-speed manual gear box and there’s 5 more HP on tap. Kizashi is quick, 0-60 happens in 6. 5 seconds. Under hard throttle the engine makes itself heard but during cruising it is quiet and smooth.

As mentioned, Suzuki’s auto tranny is a continuously variable unit. It’s the mandatory gear(less) box if the selectable AWD system is ordered. Some won’t care for the gliding and rubbery dynamics of the CVT transmission. A good friend and fellow car writer took the Kizashi for a spin and found it perfectly acceptable. I’m lukewarm. Kizashi has paddle shifters that simulate gear shifts. I’d like to try the 6-speed manual. At the very least test drive both.

The best thing about the driving dynamic is cornering. Kizashi is a kick in the curves. It remains poised and planted when tossing through my favorite route. Body roll is minimal. Fortunately the firm ride quality doesn’t cross into harsh though sharp pumps can be felt occasionally. Of note, the anti-lock brakes have excellent modulation and feel. EPA rates Kizashi’s fuel economy as high as 23 city 31 highway (23/30 with AWD).

Lot’s ‘o tech

Kizashi offers iPod support, dual zone climate control and keyless ignition standard. Thank you very much. SLS models get reverse parking sensors, sunroof, Homelink system, Bluetooth for phone and audio, and an excellent Rockford/Fosgate sound system (425 watts of power, 8 channels and 10 speakers). Front seats are firm, supportive, heated, leather, and powered (yes, both of them). Traction and stability control is standard too. Remember, this is not an expensive car.

Width wise, three average sized adults will be OK but best that they know each other. The seats themselves are quite comfortable. Tall carpool members might get a little grumpy about the reduced headroom. On the plus side they’re well protected. Kizashi comes with side torso airbags in the rear, usually optional on cars if available at all. It gets 5 stars on all government crash tests (4 stars rollover but I can’t think of a car that gets 5). Suzuki crows that this sedan is compliant with NHTSAs 2014 crash standards.

Time for another edition of trunk vs.  toilet paper.

The first thing you’ll notice is gooseneck hinge arms that take up space. So does the subwoofer. Seatbacks split and fold to hold longer items though and there are plenty of tie downs to be found. Most average sized sedans hold 6 packs and so does Kizashi but they have to be wedged in. Good thing those bundles are malleable. Once full the lid can be shut but those hinge arms will smoosh the TP.

So does Kizashi equal A4 and TSX?

Sorry, not really. But it is considerably less expensive than the premium brands, even lower in price than the standard players like Malibu and such. Suzuki is aiming to position Kizashi higher than the average mid-size. At this writing they’re challenging Audi and Acura to a death match. Well, maybe more of a duel. Test drive a Kizashi and A4 or TSX and Suzuki will give you a hundred bucks if you buy the expensive car within 10 days (I’m not a lawyer, see the dealer for details). Kizashi is more compact than Camry, Accord and Mazda6 so passengers won’t have as much room to stretch out. Also, smaller?  Suzuki’s dealer network.  There may not be a store near you.

Kizashi hits all the points that people want in a car. It’s handsome inside and out, well appointed, fun to drive and a very good value. A hybrid model is expected. I’d like to see a sport model equipped with a turbo motor. Suzuki does not enjoy the bullet proof reliability of many other brands but the build quality of my preproduction tester bodes well. I’ve also enjoyed their SX-4 sedan and crossover too. The name’s a bit unusual but the Suzuki Kizashi is a very appealing package. It should make Suzuki a household name.

Outlander SUV gets attention BCLocalNews

When I drove the second generation Outlander back in 2007, I noted Mitsubishi officials were calling it, and the Lancer, the most important cars in the company’s short Canadian history.

Along with new dealerships and new wares, Mitsubishi hoped Canadians would take a second look and it seems to be working – sales have been up in a decidedly down market. The dealer body is expanding too, with 76 Mitsubishi shops across the country.

The new Outlander is longer, wider and taller than the previous generation primarily to offer five- or seven-passenger seating. Loading bikes or large packages is easier with the segment’s first flap-fold tailgate. When lowered, the tailgate also serves as a seat for outdoor activities and can support up to 200 kilograms.

u See ‘SEGMENT’ /30

u From /01

The 2009 Outlander cargo floor is 600 mm (23.6 inches) off the ground or about 206 mm (8.1 inches) lower than the pervious model.

Overall cargo volume behind the front seats measures 2,056 litres (72.6 cu ft), a gain of 12.3 cu. ft. over the first-generation Outlander. With the second row seats up, cargo room measures 39.0 cu ft. There is 14.9 cu ft behind the third row seats on XLS models. Nine drink holders as well as bins and compartments abound, including a movable front centre console and door-panel bottle carriers.

When it bowed as a 2007 model, the Outlander was fitted with a 3.0-litre V6 but now a 2.4-litre inline SOHC four-cylinder has been added and found on the entry-level ES. It produces 168 hp and 167 lb/ft of torque. The transmission is a CVT with an adaptive shift system that lets the driver shift “manually”. This is primarily for holding it in second for launching in the snow. The ES comes standard in front-wheel-drive (FWD) or optionally with all-wheel-drive (AWD).

Fuel consumption is rated at 10.5/7.8L/100 km city/highway for the FWD and 10.6/8.0L/100 km for the AWD.

Pricing starts at $24,998 for the ES FWD and $26,998 for the ES AWD.

The mid-trim level LS and toptrim XLS Outlander models use the same 3.0-litre V6 with 220 hp and 204 lb/ft of torque. Drive is through a six-speed Sportronic automatic transmission with optional magnesium steering wheel paddle shifters on the XLS model.

Fuel consumption here is listed as 12.0/8.2L/100 km city/highway.

Pricing for the LS starts at $27,998 while the Outlander XLS starts at $32,196. The ES AWD and LS AWD can add the $2,250 Sun and Sound Package that includes a power sunroof and a 650-watt Rockford Fosgate sound system with nine speakers, one of which is a 10-inch subwoofer grafted into the rear cargo wall.

Tested here is the XLS with the $4,000 optional Navigation and Entertainment Package. It builds on the Sun and Sound Package adding a GPS navigational system, 40-gigabyte hard disc drive, seven-inch front touch screen monitor, nine-inch monitor for the DVD system in the rear and a back-up camera.

In FWD, the Outlander can tow up to 2,000 lbs. The AWD models (with increased capacity radiator and an automatic transmission cooler) can tow a trailer up to 3,500 lbs.

Mitsubishi used the term All-Wheel Control (AWC) for its version of AWD. This system combines Active Skid and Traction Control with a specially tuned suspension and an aluminum roof to lower the centre of gravity for better ride and handling than a truck-based SUV.

AWC is driver selectable via a rotary knob on the driveshaft tunnel. The choices are “2WD” for front-drive operation in normal conditions, “4WD” on wet and/or slippery surfaces and “Lock” that provides equal torque to each of the four wheels for maximum grip in snow, slush and loose gravel/dirt. AWC will not take you off road, but it should tackle rough cottage lanes with aplomb.

The Outlander can also be equipped with Bluetooth wireless connectivity. Bluetooth is catching on fast because it allows hands-free cellphone conversion along with voice recognition.

Fully kitted out with just about every option in the Mitsubishi book, the XLS approaches the luxury levels of Lexus RX and Acura MDX.

Lined in leather, there is the discreet use of metal trim and interior control lighting is done in amber like a BMW or Audi. In fact, the cabin in the XLS tested here was very similar in tone to the Audi Q5.

I’ve talked about the Rockford Fosgate sound system before. With 650 watts, you can just about blow the windows out at full volume especially with the sub-woofer pulsing away at the back. But the tonal range of the system is shown at lower volumes. With a rock backbeat or, say, a bass on a jazz tune, the speakers pick it up and it’s not lost.

The third row seat is kind of interesting. More like a shell, it’s slim enough and light enough to slip below the rear cargo floor with just a touch.

The 3.0-litre with variable value timing, fuel injection and computerized engine mapping hauls the XLS easily down the lane or down the highway.

In the still red-hot Canadian compact SUV/CUV segment Mitsubishi has a story to tell and a very good product in the Outlander.

If you’ve thinking about something in this segment, Mitsubishi might not have been in your top picks, but it might just be worth taking a new look at Mitsubishi.

The multi-function cargo area with 60/40 split/fold back seat has a cargo floor height of 600 mm (23.6 inches) that’s 206 mm (8.1 inches) lower than the first generation Outlander. The segment’s first flap/fold tailgate can hold up to 200 kg (440 lb).

(Cutlines paddle)

On the XLS version of the 2009 Outlander there are steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

(Cutline mode)

The AWD versions of the 2009 Outlander have a rotary knob on the driveshaft tunnel that allows the driver to select FWD or AWD. The third position locks all four wheels for maximum traction.

(Cutline backup)

With the Navigation and Entertainment Package, included is a rear backup camera that displays what is behind with a grid to help reverse safely.

(Cutline inter)

The interior of the 2009 Outlander XLS feels more like a German sports sedan with charcoal leather, metal accents and the use of amber illumination for the gauges.
