I wired the subs at 2 ohms each. the sound quality is poor until i disconnect one of the 2 rca plugs from the input. I want both to hit hard . New amp and speakers sound great in friends car with a 2400 watt directed amp. Any suggestions for wiring.
To get the most out of your amplifier wire both the coils of one subwoofer into one channel and do the same to the other sub on the other channel. This will output 500wrms per channel which is the rms power-handling of your subs. Perfect.
Make sure your using the subwoofer RCA from the head-unit or if you are using the rear outputs make sure the change the settings to "Subwoofer" also make sure the Channel 1/2 X-over on your amplifier is set to "LPF" and that the dial is set to around 80Hz. With all this done it should sound very decent.
Good luck!

Javin M wouldn't know sound quality if it bit him in the butt twice.
Sealed is a more accurate bass. (SQ)
Ported is a more boomy bass. (SPL)
Bandpass is a very boomy small range of frequencies. (SPL)
See my site for more info http://spkrbox1.spaces.live.com

ban pass box with plexus glass on top of box
Larry H | Mar 28, 2007
I would say a sealed box, but all you get on this forum is opinion. Sealed boxes are the easiest to make or the cheapest to buy. Nuff said.
Alex M | Mar 28, 2007
check the specs in the manual if you have it.. make a big box with dividers inside.. so the speakers act as if they have their own box.. and just get as close as you can to the specs
westman995 | Mar 29, 2007
any type of box seal ported maybe banpass
only if you make the box using the manufacture speac for the woofer
conejote_99 | Mar 29, 2007
For output; ported; PERIOD
For sound quality; PERIOD
Build whichever one you decide on to the manufacturers specs' and they'll sing! Just put more than enough power to 'em!
Good Luck!

Just a few question about my new car audio: 4000w --- 1650w RMS: 15inch HX2 Rockford Subwoofer...etc?
...
Mar 17, 2008 by Odawg | Posted in Car Audio
Hi all, please address each question individually. Thank you.
How can I check to make sure that my amp is really putting out 1650w of RMS power.
My subwoofer didnt seem to be any louder than with my 200w RMS amp, it seems like it's fighting itself... That being said let me tell you how its hooked up then you can tell me where to check for problems.
--- I have a 4 farad cap running to two amps, my 4000w and my 200w. The cap is grounded to the same place on the chasis as the two amps (this is my first time dealing with a cap, and im not sure its hooked up right, but I did follow the instruction). The sub is a dual voice coil I have it hooked up where the positve side of the amp goes to both sides of the positive terminals on the sub. And the same with the negitive. That being said, I have not checked to make sure the wires are hooked upright in the box, but i will.
So, wut could cause it to fight itself.
Do any of you own an HX2? Does it kick butt for you?
Thanks guys
well, you definitely need different grounding points, I had two amps on the same ground and was about to take one back because the power was weak, but when I changed to a separate ground point the power was definitely improved, as for putting a cap on the same ground I think that might be something to do with it. As for your sub, check out these wiring diagrams (link) to make sure your impedance is matching your amp as if your amp is wired to the wrong impedance you can either miss out on power or overload your amp. I think this would be something to check straight away as not all amps are 2 ohm stable and some dvc subs if wired incorrectly can make a 1 ohm load which will literally fry your amp. hope this helps.

will your subs sound good if you have one 15" rockford fosgat hx2 power and one 15" rockford fosgate team

yeah but the bigger, meaning above 12", subs dont handle tight fast bass as well as the smaller ones, and also you'd need a meaty amp, or preferably running in 2-4 ohm and a power rating of as close its rated 1000 watts RMS for your hx2 & depending on the other woofers rating, the closest to its rated power handling in rms, make sure that u don't get sold on peak power ratings, ask for rms. Its better measure. hope that helps,
personally id sell the two 15" and get yourself 2 dual coil 12"ers and get some wicked A-class amplification!

no, because RF doesnt make very good sounding subs.

my head unit is a pioneer 7700. the box i have them in is bad ass and it sounds great but u can't ever have too much bass!!so i thought maybe i could be getting more out of them than i am. Any suggestions?
I wouldn't recommend running two different types of subs off of the same amp and definitely not in the same enclosure. Running mutliple subs (different sizes, types, companies) is possible, but you must have a damn good crossover setup and multiple amps in order to get optimum sound. Also, these subs have different RMS power handling (10in W6 - 400RMS 10in HX2 - 500RMS), the parameters of the subs is completely different, and even their recommended enclosure sizes is different. Good luck with what your doing, but don't be upset when it's not the sound you want.

I have (1) rockford fosgate punch HX2 in my truck and i just brought (2) kicker comp. C12, in a ported box. are the kicker louder than the fosgate?
OK So the Kickers will hit harder. The P2 can handle around 250rms (I think) and the Kickers can handle 150rms (a peice @ 2). These two subs are really grat. I hve them and I love them. Every car I pull up nest to tells me that I have a great system but they are just the basic Kickers. If I'm only running the Basic kickers and I rattling people's cars next to me at red lights then I must be doing something right. lol Go with the Kickers Man. two subs vs. 1 most of the time the two will win. That one guy is right it has alot to do with the amp and the box that your using. I went with a Sealed box. I made mine to spec and it is soo tight and clean even my install buddies that work at CC have to complament me. Well this is my opin but Kickers are soo much better. I would run the Kicker ZX300.1 amp with them b/c they are a perfect match. Well have fun and quake something

should i get a rockford hx2 or a soundstream tarantula or a kicker l7 or a few boston g5 12''s do you have any suggestions???
and i want it to be able to handle down to one ohm
First off what are you looking for?Im assuming SPL/loud ass bass. And also, what do you mean by a "few" Bostons? How many.Boston are nice sounding speakers and if you went with 3 they would be louder than 1-15 ....I dont care what anyone says. Its simple physics.3 subs have more air displacement than 1....Now if I had to choose ,I would go with the 3 bostons just because its more elaborate than just 1 sub :).With the right box design,it could be sweet install.Plus 12's sound better than 15's anyhow.(IMO)
Now if the Bostons were not an option, then I would go with the L7's for bass.....The rockford would be my last choice UNLESS it was the "power" Hx2 series and not the punch hx2.As far as the Soundstream,I havent heard the subs before.I am a fan of their amps however...So I couldnt say
anything about their subs....Goodluck
UPDATE:To the Guy that said 1 L7 hit harder than the three JBL's...Several factors are the reason. 1.it was the LOWER quality JBL OR the BOX SPECS were incorrect and/or insufficient wattage was probably used.If I was to replicate the 3 JBL's to my specs, there is NO WAY 1 kicker would be louder or hit louder. Now the solo x would...but now we are talking SPL subs...a totally different ball game...you need to learn more about subs before giving advice...besides solo X wasnt even one if his choices...sheeshh dont people read these questions?

question on matching amp rms output to the speaker rms handling?
...
Jul 13, 2006 by bigwartfrog | Posted in Car Audio
i have an hifonics zeus zx6400 85watts rms @4oms x4 i am looking to buy 6 1/2inch component speakers for the front and coax in the back. i have a seperate hifonics mono sub amp 500watts rms x2 @ 2ohm's and some rockford 10inch hx2's for the bass. a local car audio installer tells my i should get component speakers rated a half the power of the amp's out put in order to gain more headroom(dynamic range). this just does not seem right. would'nt they distort some what pushing the speakers that hard??
Sounds like the stereo shop is trying to unload some crappy speakers on you. Buy speakers that match or slightly exceed the RMS output of your amp. Sounds like you've got the right idea. Good luck.

2 ten inch Rockford Fosgate HX2 DVC Subwoofers. T10001BD amp and 0 Gauge through the car.
The Signalprocessor Pioneer/Premier ODR RS-P50 is mounted behind the driver side trimpanel in the trunk.
I've made custom mounting bars of 3x45mm aluminium.
All tbe bars are mounted in factory holes, no new holes were drilled in the car in this install!
Under the amprack is room for tools , a "sparetyre-in-a-bottle" kit and a tiny compressor.
The rack is held open with a 300NM gas spring
Here the Rockford Fosgate HX2 10" sub and Xetec P5 amplifier is mounted, and the finnished amprack/sub enclosure is mounted in the trunk.
My headunit is a good old classic!
Pioneer/Premier ODR RS-D2.
Mounted in factory location
A combined subwoofer enclosure and amprack is made from MDF, plywood and fiberglass.
This is going to be mounted in the sparetyre well.
