if there is two different models of rockford fosgate subs?

there are two different models of rockford fosgate subs i would like, the p2 with 250rms and the p3 with 500rms
im looking at buying two, and hooking them up to an amp etc
with the end result being either 500rms or 1000rms is it worth going the p3? or would the bass be more louder or distorted being more rms? and more expensive buying a more powerful amp etc?

These answers are ridiculous. Don't listen to the above. First off, you cant compare the p2's to the p3's. they look similar on paper but the sound is definitely different. The P3's have alot more control and can pound alot harder without getting distorted. I would definitely spend the money on the p3's. They are louder and sound a whole lot cleaner than the p2's.
I owned both as well as installed both into hundreds of vehicles. Trust me.

Well if you want to spend an arm and a leg, and want to wake the neighbors two blocks away then by all means get the P3's. the reason i say that is because the bass will obviously louder with the higher wattage. Also if you are looking for a more accurate bass response and not just BOOM BOOM BOOM!!! then it is not about how much wattage as much as the size of the subs. Smaller subs e.i. 8 in and 10 in subs provide more realistic bass where as a subs that is 12 in and bigger will give you and boomier sound. there are a bunch of other factors that can affect what the subs with sound like too like whether you use a ported, bandpass box or if you uses a sealed box, the type of amp you use the wiring of the amp the quality of material you use the size of the car you are putting them in. The easiest way to put it is the less wattage the less money you have to spend, because with the more wattage = bigger amp i.e. more money, bigger amp wiring kit, more money there, also with more wattage the battery may not be able to handle the load of electricity being used so you might have to invest in another battery or a capacitor, and guess what that means more money. So if you plan on make the stereo a real competition stereo or just want to annoy anyone with in a mile or so of you.. by all means go big if you just want the little extra bass go with smaller subs size and wattage. I know i rambled but this should explain your question. Good luck and go shake some windows

i know someone who has 2 p2's in their acura.
Its loud.
He was using a 200 watt rockford amp that came with the subs.
I let him barrow my mtx 600 watt amp and they got WAY louder.
You dont need a huge amp for them
the p3's would be louder but i dont think it would be worth the extra money.
you could spend the money that your saving from buying the cheaper subs and buy new door speakers or a headunit.

I suggest going to an audio store and listen to the demos and bring a cd and see what is good enough for you. some like it loud and clean some like it soft and clean some like it loud and distorted. install will play a big part on how its going to sound

remember 90% install, 10% product.

no size speaker plays a better frequency than another....that depends on the box they are in and it's tuning.

also, if you go with the p3's, you don't necessarly have to power them and their rated power. you could give them, say 1/2 - 3/4 of their rms and make up the difference by making a larger box. this could save you $$ on an amp...if you have the room to spare for a larger box.

generally speaking, a larger sub plays more efficiently. yes they handle more power, but they also perform better with lower power than a lower powewred sub can perforn at its rated power.

What model are these Rockford Fosgate subs?

These are 12" Rockford Fosgate subs what is the model number?

Thanks!

i think those are the HE Fosgates

What's your opinion on Rockford Fosgate subs?

I am looking at buying some subs for my car. I am not really sure what brand is good and what not. I've heard good things about Rockford Fosgate, Pioneer, and Audiobahn. What do you think?

I have two fosgate subs and they are great, especially for the price. I like the punch models and they can boom pretty loud when paired with a good box and amp. Its a good system if you're on a tight budget.

I work at night & sleep during the day. Thats all I need to say! When it comes to subs that is.

Cerwin Vega if you like quality bass and a Precision Power amp, or maybe Phoenix Gold if you can find one.

Fosgates are for dirtheads who listen to heavy metal.

Pioneer and Audiobahn make really good subs, but i dont really like Fosgates subs besides their punches. I hate how their subs have foam surrounds. They make good amps though.

i have the fosgate its awesome a lot of competion guys use them if your not sure ask around at some of the Audio shows

pretty good but go for competition subs like orion those are good

What amp should I get to power two 300 watt rockford fosgate subs?

These Rockford Fosgate's http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=18007. Also where do I put the amp?

Try a rockford fosgate punch series amp. I would put the amp on the back of your back seat.

i would recommend any amp 500-750 watts. screw the amp to the back of the box

Get a rockford amp with your rockford subs. Rockford makes a bass knob that can increase your gains by about 30%... thats rediculous for a $30 purchase.

Screw the amp onto the back of the seat so that if some moron tries to steal your stuff, it will be a lot harder to get the amp and the box... do NOT put your amp on your box.

Best of luck

I Would Stick With A Rockford Amp To Tha Punch Series 300 Watt 2 Channel Oughta Do The Job. Screw The Amp On Ya Back Seat Or In The Base Of Ya Trunk. Like The Bottom It Looks Good And Defers Those Jackers.

What kind of amp do i need for two 12 inch 300 watt rockford fosgate subs, and two 6.5 inch speakers?

Do i need mono, 2-channel, or multi channel?
Do i need more than one amp?

Your best bet would be two amps,a mono amp for the subs and a 2 channel amp for the 6.5's.
And if you run separate rca's to each amp you will be able to control the speakers and subs independently.
If you have or buy a aftermarket radio just make sure it has at least two preamp outputs.
One for the subs and one for the 6.5's.

Or you could buy one mono amp for the subs and then run the 6.5's off of the radio.

I'd do what wishmaster said, get the mono amp for the subs, then I'd get a 4 channel amp and amp all inside speakers or atleast be prepared for when you upgrade the other 2 speakers so that way you won't need to upgrade to a 4 channel.

What amp do i need to power 2 500 watt rms rockford fosgate subs to the full potential?

i own the rockford p3 12 inch dvc 4ohm i have them wired down to 2 ohm to a rockford fosgate 850.2 amp in stero since there amps are under rated each sub is getting like 450rms so if you want the full power go with the 100.1 amp because those subs are more like 600 watts they hit hella hard make sure you have upgrades like the big 3 yellow top high amp alternator cause your lights will dim

good luck

what kind of amp can push my rockford fosgate subs(2) without blowin them.?

olkay i have 2 rockford fosgate stage 3 12" dvc subs.both 4ohm.n both can handle 1000 watts each(max peak).what /how many watts do i need to push it without bustin/blowin them.

do not pay attention to peak or max ratings look only at RMS. with that said for those subs you could push 1000 watts RMS. the distortion levels that a previous answerer mentioned the THD this is not the distortion that blows subs it's clipping, and they are totally different.. clipping is caused when you try to take a amp past its rated power. so if you get a 600 watt amp and runn it to 1000 watts (yes with cliping that is posible)that will blow your subs, but its because they are severly clipping, not because it has a high THD rating. it is important that the gains are set properly, and i recomend using a multi meter to ensure proper settings.

alot of scientific answers are given on here and various explanations for why things are blown or fry, the bottom line is have your amp installed properly and then dont turn it up to loud, its that simple... even a properly set up system can fry your equipment if you get knob nuts. and turn it up to loud...

power "greed" is the likely number one reason why people destroy thier equipment.

What amp should i get for 2 10unch T1 rockford fosgate subs.?

i need an amp that will get the job done and knock these subs.

any answers for me???

If i get 2 Rockford Fosgate P312D2 subs and a Rockford Fosgate P6001BD are they going to be loud?

If i get 2 Rockford Fosgate P312D2 subs and a Rockford Fosgate P6001BD amp is the amp going to be pushing the 2 12"s to the best of their ability.(i plan on using a ported box) I couldnt decide between the rockfords or alpine type r's i have a tight budget but i see them both for a good price on ikesound.com. I am new at car stereos but i have done alot of research, i just cant decide. Thanks for anyones help in advance. ps. i drive an acura mdx (suv)

I just recently purchased a t8002 rockford fosgate amp and an alpine swx-1243d3 (not d2, much better production model) and with that setup and a 1 farad cap, it bumps louder and clearer than my friends 2 p3's, and he is pushing 720 rms on each of em(though i'm pushing 1290's on my alpine or so they birth sheet of my rf amp said.) The simple reply from me is, i'd go with my setup again if i were to get mine stolen(again....) or w/e the reason i'd have 2 replace mine. it is 1 amp, 1 sub, 1.8 cu foot box. you can't beat that, specially when your talking about 2 subs. O ya, my car's an Isuzu trooper so size isn't the biggest deal, but trust me, when it comes moving time, u don't wanna remove your beats to fit some more junk in your car.

Are the Rockford Fosgate 10" Punch 3 shallow mount subs good quality for a Ford F-150 X-Cab?

I am currently looking to finish my stereo system in my truck and I realize I need a custom box to go under my rear seat. My only problem is the depth size of a 10" sub is limited to 5" and I have already experienced Rockford Fosgate subs and I was very satisfied. Mainly wondering if the Shallow Mount will take away too much or being that it will bein in a truck that it wont make much of a difference and also if the fact that it must face down will cause any loss of bass or rattling noises.
Ok...I checked out the JL Audio sub box...I'm figuring that even though it says for a SuperCab and I only have an X-cab that it will still work...but since the basses are stacked to one side of the seat will that impact sound quality at all? I have also viewed the MTX thunderform stuff...and was just a little curious if the loading of the subs on one side does make a difference or not

there will be a few differences in sound. Subs in a downfiring box are generally a little muffled. You will also notice a loss of range due to having to use a smaller enclosure.

I don't think the differences are going to be overwhelming, just slight differences.
