Where is the best place to get a complete car audio system?

I want to know if there are any other majoir chain stores like Best Buy in or around youngstown ohio that i can buy a cd player, speakers, materials, install ect. for my car

I have a 95 plymouth acclaim (hold laughter please:) and want to know who to go to.

Look up "Car Audio" on whitepages.com for Youngstown. It may be a small shop but they may do a good job. Whatever they try to sell you, look up the price on www.crutchfield.com for the exact product to make sure it is at least competitive with retail prices.

If you want a really good audio system I would recommend buying from different locations and putting together your own... I don't think somewhere like best buy has the "best" you can get.

What does a complete car audio system consist of?

I want to know every component that makes for a good sound.
I want to know everything from subs, tweeters, speakers, amps, altenators,....what am I missing?

A complete system will generally have all of the following.

*Speakers are a very vital part of how an aftermarket stereo will sound. You can have all the money in the world invested in your stereo, but if you don't have quality speakers than it won't sound any better than the factory stereo.

There are various types of speakers you can choose from, most common being "coaxial" and "component" sets.

Coaxial sets have a woofer, which produces mainly the mid-range bass frequencies such as male vocals, toms, floor toms, etc. They also have a tweeter, which produces the high frequencies such as cymbal crashes, snare drum,hi-hat,etc .
Coaxial sets come in a variety of setups such as 2-way, which has one tweeter for mid-high frequencies and high frequencies and one woofer for mid-bass. 3-ways which have one tweeter and a separate mid-high range tweeter and a woofer. Anything more just has a higher number of tweeters, which to an extent will result in a better sounding speaker.

Component sets consist of one woofer and a separate tweeter for various mounting applications. Some people prefer a separation of the mid and high range frequencies and theses speakers make that possible. Even if you don't prefer the separation, the overall sound quality, I think is much better than coaxial sets.

*After market cd players range in price anywhere from $50 to over $2000. Some of the base models will not have all of the features need for hooking up an amp and proper sound adjustment. Look for a cd player that has preferably 3 sets of RCA output jacks. RCA's carry the music signal from the cd player to the amp. Of the 3 sets, one is for the front speakers, one for the rear speakers, and one for the sub. If you purchase one that has 3 sets of RCA outs, it'll also have all the necessary features to adjust the audio settings accordingly.

*Subs and amps.Again, various types. Subs come in various RMS ratings and various numbers of voice coils. RMS is the total amount of power that the sub is able to handle continuously. When choosing subs look for RMS watts not peak or max watts. Amps come in different numbers of channels and RMS ratings. Channels are what your speakers or subs are connected to to receive the audio signal form the amp. Amps come in various channel setups from one channel up to four or more. One channel amps are generally used for subs and four channel amps are generally used for speakers.

Choosing amps and subs can be a bit complicated if you don't know what you're doing. You get into ohm ratings and different wiring methods of the subs to achieve certain ohm ratings, so it's best to let someone that has knowledge in car audio to help you choose.

*A box for the sub(s). This is pretty self-explanatory.

You also need all the necessary install parts. That's usually something that whoever you take it to mentions.

Hope this helps.

Complete Car Audio Overview for Dummies?

I know there are experts on this board who are very familiar with car audio. I know nothing about this topic, but I am looking to research and purchase a nice system for my Honda Accord.

What things to I need to buy (and know) to get a car stereo, and what are some quality brands that I can trust?

Sorry this might require an extensive answer, but many people will most likely benefit from it.

www.splbassx.com
www.12volt.com

go to those forums. they have some very nice write ups and very extensive and detailed posts. they've helped me with my questions lots of times.

www.bcae1.com

read everything on that site and you will be ahead of 99.9% of the people on this board.

See my site for sub wiring and enclosure building tips http://spkrbox1.spaces.live.com

well great question, are you into heavy loud bass, or nice clean sound quality bass person? you have to decide on what your taste is like. you have a accord so you should be in the 1000-1200 dollar range.

Where can I find Complete Car Audio package, ie speakers and in head unit

Is it possible to buy speaker and the in head unit together instead of individually ? If so where can find them online? I have a minimum budget but have bad speakers in my car...('96 Rav4)

nope

is it possible to power a complete car audio system through a powerpoint and if so how can this be done?

Using a bench-top high current power supply will do this.

A $100 unit that's 13.8 volts DC 25 amperes will push a 350 watt RMS total system.

Complete car audio system in 2001 grand prix....?

how much money is a good complete audio system... i have estimated the amount altogether and its like 2300 dollars for 2 amps, 6 speakers, 2 subs, head unit.. i want a good system that sounds beautiful but could i get a very good system still but wit less expenses, i am kinda an amateur at this.. what would be a good estimate for a good complete system.. oh and does a 2001 pontiact grand prix supercharged have 6 speakers or 4 cuz i think they have 6 but would i only replace 4 or 6 if i got upgraded speakers.. help plz. thanks

$2300 can go along ways for car audio or it will buy 1 pair of really high end component speakers. This is a great place to start looking and they have the biggest selection I have seen. http://woofersetc.com/
I would say to buy 2 sets of component speakers costing around $250-$300 each. I would get one really good 12 inch sub. This will keep the sound quality at a premium, while requiring half the amount of power as 2. Apparently for every speaker you add you only increase the volume by a max of 30%. I would budget about 400 for a good 12 inch and a good BOX. Image Dynamics has one of the best subs made for sound quality. It's the ID Q version 3. It's on woofersetc.com for $280. Spend around $100 or so on a good box. (the box is just as important as the sub)
We are at about $1000 for speakers and sub and sub box.
Budget around $300-350 for a good receiver either Alpine or Eclipse.
This leaves $1000 for 2 amps. One REALLY GOOD 4 channel amp for the 4 component speakers. Let's say $400 for that.
A mono channel or 2 channel(bridged) for the sub.Let's say $350 for that. You should have around $200 for wiring and all that. This should put you around $2300.
Remember to figure out what ohms you want to run the sub at and make sure you buy the amp that will do that stably. This is a good spot to learn how to wire for different ohm loads: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-AFLDRffflD1/learn/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html
I would later save some money for sound deadening as this will reduce distortions caused by vibrations and dramatically reduce road noise if enough is applied to the right areas. This can get expensive rather quickly though.
If you are dead set on having 2 or more subs, just remember that every extra sub is that much more money and then to power those subs will cost a lot and then you will have to start looking around at batteries, capacitors and or alternators.
These are the brands that I would choose from:
Alpine, Focal, JL Audio, Image Dynamics,
Rockford Fosgate(amps only), Boston Acoustics, RE Audio, FI Audio, Infinity(Kappa Perfect), Pioneer Premiere(only the high end stuff), some MB Quart, Morel, Rainbow, Zapco, Brax, Mcintosh, Nakamichi, Alumapro Alchemy, Kicker(is decent), etc.

Stay away from: Pyramid, JVC, Boss, Pyle, low-end MTX, Bazooka, American Bass, Legacy, Lanzar. Dual etc. usually if it sounds like it is cool or looks flashy i wouldn't get it.
Hoped this helped.

What is everything I need for a complete a car audio system? Also any high end products or companies?

Depends on what all you're wanting to do, but besides the speakers and amp(s) you'll be using, you'll need some tools, an amp install kit, and possible some speaker wire.

Noel Lee, Head Monster, noted: “At Monster, our goal is to provide products that truly complete the home entertainment and TV watching experience for our customers. These days, that means making it easy for people to access the Internet, which has become a primary source for all kinds of entertainment, including games, movies, music and more. According to industry estimates, Internet movie rentals and downloads alone will exceed 2.14 billion by 2010, and more and more home entertainment products, including TVs, now feature built-in Internet. The majority of consumers, however, do not have an Ethernet connection in every room where they may want to access it. Our PowerNet products make it fast and easy to add an Ethernet interface to any room. And with our new high-speed PowerNet 1G, people will be able to enjoy the full power of the Internet so they can maximize all their entertainment opportunities, including 1080p programming, without adding any new wires.”

Noel Lee, Head Monster, noted: “More and more people are rightfully concerned about energy consumption these days, both because they care about the environment and because they want to save money. Monster GreenPower gives customers the solutions they need to address their concerns about energy and the environment. Monster GreenPower Stops Stand-by Mode Power Waste

Your customers may not be aware that even when their home theater components are turned "off," their equipment may still be consuming energy in stand-by or sleep mode. The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that stand-by power can account for as much as 20% of home energy use. Monster GreenPower provides the solution to this problem by letting customers easily turn off selected outlets to eliminate wasted "vampire" power consumption.
