05.02.10
Announced today that DTS Neural Surround(TM) will
be integrated into the NFL's International HD Broadcast of Super Bowl
XLIV from Miami, Florida, which will enable TV viewers from around the
world to experience the game in full 5.1 surround sound.
Over 60 international broadcasters will televise Super Bowl XLIV in more
than 180 countries and territories. The game will be broadcast live in
over 30 languages, including 13 different languages from Sun Life
Stadium. The live broadcast begins at 6:00PM EST, 3:00PM PST on Sunday,
February 7th.
"The Super Bowl is one of the most popular and exciting sporting events
on television," said Jon Kirchner, President and CEO, DTS, Inc. "We are
thrilled to be partnering with the NFL to deliver top-notch surround
sound to a growing global audience and make their Super Bowl experience
even more immersive and thrilling."
DTS Neural Surround(TM) provides a revolutionary new approach to surround
sound productions that enables networks to distribute 5.1 surround sound
over a stereo transmission path. For Super Bowl XLIV, this DTS Neural
Surround technology (incorporated in hardware by DaySequerra) allows the
NFL's on-site broadcast crews to produce the game in 5.1 surround sound
and preserve the integrity of the surround mix while distributing the
game live in a stereo format to a global audience.
