i have got 2 10" subwoofers in my car installed in a box what amplifier should i buy?

i have got 2 10" subwoofers in my car installed in a box and they sound rubbish what amplifier should i buy? i need one thats cheap and can run 2 subs

You have to look at the Rms of each sub and combine them and thats roughly the size of the apliphier youll need. You will also want to find ouut the ohm rating of the subs and how you will be hooking them up to match it with an amp that is stable at that ohm. You should have a mono block amp to.

I dont know.

Depends on the woofers.... go to a good install company and seek advice, then look on ebay and buy the best you can afford...

A big one.

not sure of any make names now ( been a while since i had a sub in the car) , but its always better to have more power to the subs than they need .
this will avoid "clipping" and give you a clearer sound .
i had a 300 watt infinity sub 10" powered by a 500w bridged 2 channel pheonix gold amp . that worked a treat and nearly blew out the back window at full pelt !!!
hope this helps .

For the sake of all the people who live where you drive about at night, Let's hope it's a broken one. Enjoy your hearing now because you will miss it when it's gone. I know this from personal experience.

look at the power rating of the subs! then dont go for a cheap amp sony or infinity are the best, make sure its a mono block amp if your only running subs of it dont mess around with bridging them you'll only go burning out the voice coils on the subs later down the line and dont go buying an amp more powerful than the subs you'll only have the same problem, i had 2 sony 12" pentagons running off a 1600w monoblock amp they were perfect you couldnt get better sound for your money. hope this answers your questions

car audio is a sore subject because many factors can run into "rubbish" sounding subs.

Type of subs, from what it sounds like you dont want to spend alot of money so you prob. have 2 crapy subs and still want to bass hard.

Type of box, sealed box will get you better sounding but ported box will let you hit harder.

as for an amp it depends again on how cheap you want to be but cheap will get you "rubbish" sound.

check rms rating on subs and dont go over it with the amp.

if i were u id go with a good pioneer 1000watt or a nice 1100watt kenwood that would be your best bet but i just depends on wat tha rms on tha 10s are i hade 3 pioneer tens and a 760watt and a 200watt pioneer amp and i was blowin some of my friends out tha water and they had 15s so yea just wat ever u can get

Im trying to install 2 10" subwoofers in my car?

I have two 10" reactor subwoofers they are 500watts each, im new to this so i really dont kno that much about it, im wondering whats the best amp, farad cap, and gauge to use to install them???

Im guessing thats probably 500w max so you probably need about 500w rms for both subs. Its probably 4ohm subs so you will need a mono amp that pushes about 500w@2ohms. 8gauge wire should be good and you dont need a capacitor

I'm not to smart either on the topic, but I do know that w.e. anybody says on here could be confusing, and you really want to find a friend of someone that would help you out hooking everything up.

2 Memphis Car Audio 10" subwoofers, in a box and 700 watt amp for $400. Good Price?

This store where i live has 2 10" Memphis Subs, a 700 watt amp, (not for sure what the specs are on it) and installation which may include the 60 dollar wiring kit. Is this a good price, if not here is a link to the other subs I might buy .

http://cgi.ebay.com/2-JL-AUDIO-SUBWOOFER-10-10W1-4-W-A2150-ENCLOSURE-WIRE_W0QQitemZ220333781788QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Subwoofers_Enclosures?hash=item220333781788&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A2|294%3A50

No. Memphis blows hard, their cones are made of crap. Save up for some real JL Audio 13.5" W7s with two matching 1000/1 amps in a sealed box. Don't waste your money on that garbage that'll make good music sound like someone beating on a garbage can.

How does a capacitator for car subwoofers work?

i have two 10' subwoofers that are hooked up to a 1000 watt amp. if i buy a capacitator how exactly does it work and how do i install it and what do i need to install it

The purpose of a capacitor is to temporarily supply voltage to the electrical system when the alternator has a voltage drop. this tends to happen often when bass is amplified and sent to a subwoofer. The cap charges up to the same voltage as the alternator which will be 13-14 something volts depending on your alternator. Then when the kick drum hits and the voltage thatthe alternator supplies drops becuse it can't handle that much of a load the capacitor takes over temporarily relieveing the electrical system, then recharging back up to the same voltage as the alternator.

thats how its supposed to work anyways. to install it all you need to do is run wire from it to the amp and battery. and fusing those connections are recommended

and subwoofers dont have capacitors that "bleed off" higher tones. the subwoofer is just a speaker that does what it is told to do. if a musical signal of 1000hz is sent to a subwoofer it will try to play it, and probably damage itself in the process. Low pass filters do this "bleeding off" that you are referring to. Low pass filters cut off all frequencies above a set frequency so that a subwoofer wont try to play it and get damaged. and those are usually on amplifiers, not subwoofers

Your subs should have capacitors already.

They bleed off the high frequency tones so only the bass goes to the sub.

A cap will only help if you already have a sufficient charging system. A cap just stores energy. It is suppose to be like a temporary reservior that will supply current quickly which a alternator can't do. However, if the cap does not have enough energy to store, from an inediquite charging system, then it will do you no good. Even with a proper charging system it will not do much.

IMO spend your money on something else. There are SO many better things to spend your money on then a cap.

I believe that shodan was talking about using caps inline with the sub. This will be a basic High Pass Filter. However, a HPF will let the high frequencies pass, hence the name, and block the lower frequencies not the other way around. This is different then putting the cap inline with the power cable though.

RJ, a sub will not be damaged from high frequencies. They don't care what signal you send to them as long as they are not overpowered.

Provides the power when a big bass hit occurs.

Basically, they are garbage.

Two 10" subwoofers in a car with no amp?

Can it be done, i know it will sound crappy because they will only get about 22watts i don't even think they will work because they are 500watts 250rms, can i just hook the subs up to the rear deck speakers to see if they will work or will it mess something up?
ok i have a 400watt amp but my amp installation kit has not got here from ebay its been 8days im tired of waiting, but will a 10gauge amp kit work for a 400watt amp?

Yea, you can do that. And your right, it will sound like crap. Let me see....400/14.5=approx 27.58. 10gage wire good for 35amps. Yea, your OK.

better to get an amp

They certainly won't thump, but you won't screw them up, either.

Yes, it can be done but they will sound crappy even your original speaker will sound better that that.

No, if you connect it right it will not mess with anything.

There is no point of doing that since the original will rear will sound better than the trunk, 10 gauge 4 a 400 watts amp is cool to me.

Why can't I have a loud exhaust on my car when I can have subwoofers 10 times as loud?

Can you control the volume of your exhaust with a knob?

What brands of car subwoofers should I be looking at for pure sound quality? JL Audio but what else is there??

I want to install a sealed pure SQ 10" sub in my car. After chatting to a few people the JL W7 subs seem to be coming up a lot, however what other pure SQ options are there? I'm not really too worried about budget and it has to be available in the UK. I want to weigh up all my options before investing in one!

Thanks.

alpine simply the best

What kind of subwoofers should i get for my car?

Its a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/ factory installed infinity system. From what I understand since its an infinity system I have to buy another amplifier. What is the best option for me to get subwoofers. 10 or 12 inch.

there is no right or wrong answer here, if there was there would only be one size. you can get 10's or 12's they can both hit really hard, and really deep. and both can sound excellent. it is more a question of compatability. what i mean is first determine what subs sound good to you, then the power you want, then match the size and power ratings of the sub to the power you choose. i like to think of it this way, first decide the sq, then decide the volume. the 12's will be louder per watt than 10's, but will take up more room. thats really the only true difference. and in some cases the 12's will hit lower, but honestly in todays market, most good subs of any size hit frequencies as low as what we can hear. so any good sub is adequate.

does that vehical store the spare tire under the floor in the back? i think it does if that is the case, if it were me i would personally look into getting the largest sub 12"? that will fit in there, and i would pull the spare out, when your done it is a super clean install... you can have a custom shop do this for you. alo i believe that MTX thunderforms, and JL audio Stealth boxes have subs that fit nicely in the back were the littl storage area is with the net in the back on the side... anyway those are 10" solution i belive. Jason d mentions 2 10's or a 12 as a minimum, i total disagree. there are some very powerfull 10's even 8's out there that could do the job with just one. especially if you are not powering the mids and highs.

what kind of amp should i get for two 10" subwoofers for my 96 grand marquis?

i already have tweeters in the front and back of the car. i want to know what kind of amp would have my car sounding like i have 2 15"s in the back instead of 10"s. any help would be appriciated.

600 watt mtx or a 1000 hifonics those two amp are the actuall wattage not like pioneer or any other of that stuff that say 2o00 watts and is reallly 400 mtx and hifonics give u the reall out put not the peak

Heels On Wheels: 2010 Crossover Watch List Autochannel (press release)

INTRO TO THE CROSSOVER
The self-appointed Crossover Queen is back with 2010 recommendations! Now in our second year of suggesting which part-sport utility, part-car gives women the best bang for their buck, Heels on Wheels once again puts together an exciting list of CUVs with great style and high customer satisfaction.

Ten years ago, the Honda CRV barely made the last slot on best-selling SUV lists. By 2006, crossovers made up of more than 50% of the overall SUV market. Today, the Honda CRV dominates the number one SUV position. Crossovers deliver what a traditional utility vehicle can't always – car-like handling without compromising space, utility style and performance (and in many cases, delivering better gas mileage).

One trend we're noticing in 2010 is that style of some crossover vehicles are getting rather boxy. So we've included a few new square-shaped rides into our crossover list for the year, including the Scion xB and Ford Flex.

2010 Scion xB. The xB is the best of the boxy rides (and I test-drove all of them). More than a trend, the "urban" utility ride with a 158-horsepower 2.4-liter DOCH 4-cylinder engine has a strong resale value according to Kelley Blue Book. The Scion xB possesses great cargo room – an amazing 70 cubic feet (beats Cube, Element and Kia Soul). Base starts at $16,700 , and a completely stocked xB can run you as high as $28,110 . What makes the 2010 xB different than its former years is upgraded its audio options. The standard Pioneer stereo features iPod or iPhone connectivity, a programmable 16-character welcoming message and an RCA unit for two after-market subwoofers. The optional Alpine Premium adds a 4.3-inch color touch screen, one more RCA hookup and HD Radio technology to view all song titles.

2010 Subaru Forester 2.5XT Limited. The base Forester made my list last year, and this year I'm stepping it up by recommending the AWD turbocharged .5-liter Boxer with intercooler engine holding a fuel estimate of 21-mpg. The 2.5X Limited brings a better automatic climate control system, the All-Weather Package (heated mirrors and seats plus a wiper de-cier) and a 6-speaker stereo with 6-CD changer. The interior design inside any Forester feels roomy, mostly due to sculpted doors and dash. Between the panoramic sunroof and second-row reclining seats with an optional center cup holder that pulls down, your passengers will be happy. A fully loaded Forester with all-wheel drive costs $29,694. When you add up all the features, options, and performance pluses, this becomes our best deal on the list.

2010 Ford Flex. Now in its second year of unique existence, the Flex offers space and urban style without being a traditional or bulky SUV. With three trims available, my mid-level SEL test drive came with SYNC hands-free communication, Ford's MyKey, AWD and AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control for $41,555. Now with EcoBoost technology, the 3.5-liter V6 Duratec engine bumps from 262-hp to 365-hp through the turbo technology using direct gasoline injection – so V8 power with V6 gas consumption at an average of 18-mpg. The Flex has one of the most highly functional third-rows on the market, with easy in-and-out access and room for two car seats. The vista moonroof and skylights, composed of one moonroof and the three additional non-opening skylights located on both sides of the second row and one in the third, is a must-have option.

2010 Lexus RX 350. More than one million of this Lexus model has been sold worldwide. This luxury 5-passenger ride has a long list of improvements in the performance area for 2010, including an all-new six-speed transmission to increased horsepower for the 275 horsepower 3.5-liter VVT-i V6 engine. An RX 350 has great standards, such a 10-way power driver and passenger seats with lumbar, Homelink, an LCD screen for audio and ventilation settings and a 9-speaker sound system – with a few extra packages, total cost comes to $49,825. But amidst all the divine and highly-tech interior features, the real reason for moms to get this ride is for the remote open-and-close liftgate and cargo area side handles that fold the second row flat in a flash. Don’t forget that this model comes as a Hybrid also (RX450H) , with all the goodies and the great fun and do-goodies of a 28 MPG crossover.

2010 Lincoln MKT. Biggest surprise in the 3-row crossover lineup. This 7-passenger techie dream ride with the V6 EcoBoost engine is available in all-wheel drive will set you back $49,995 but delivers a long list of goodies: Reverse Camera System; fixed glass roof; adaptive high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps; genuine wood interior trim; 12-way driver and passenger heated leather bucket seats with lumbar; touch-screen audio and climate controls; and Lincoln SYNC or voice-activated entertainment system. The available Navigation Package includes a 14-speaker THX II Certified 5.1 Surround Audio System, George Lucas style. It has excellent handling characteristics, which I fully put to test on the Santa Cruz Mountains. The optional Active Park Assist takes this idea of self-parking a car one step farther than Toyota/Lexus by actually allowing the MKT to select an appropriately sized parking space before it steers you in hands-free.
